I just liquidated mine and buried it in the backyard.

So with two misspellings in one sentence, I should trust Ralph with 401k advice?

This might be able to happen in a country with no guns. Want to see a video game in real life? Seize peoples life savings in america. Good luck

I laughed, that was good.

I actually think a scenario like this would be the tipping point because folks would have nothing left to lose

No money, no food, then things get real..we still have some room to print, so I doubt this hits anytime soon, but that also means inflation if we print again.

“Loose it all”

Yeah, I’m not listening to someone who doesn’t know the difference between “lose” and “loose”

Whether or not the guy uses correct grammar is beside the point. I have heard this scenario a couple of times recently as being a possibility. I think it would have to be a complete meltdown of the financial system to come to fruition.

This guy is promoting his own book he just released. He's full of shite.

quote:

Under Article 8 of the Uniform Commercial Code, if a brokerage firm collapses during a financial crisis, secured creditors, including banks, may seize securities used as collateral in lending arrangements with broker-dealers. This can include customer securities, such as stocks and bonds, if they were pledged as collateral for those loans.

If that happens, then we are in a war.

AI would eliminate all jobs AND they would seize what savings we have? People have died for much less. This would be all out war like a zombie apocalypse

Ask me ten years ago, what is more likely?

1) .Gov creates a financial crisis with bad monetary policy and institutes a series of ‘emergency measures’ that effectively steals part of your 401K

Or

2) .Gov creates a faux medical emergency working with our greatest enemy, forces people to stay home while they print and send out money, and forces people to get shots that are described as vaccines but vaccinate no one

I’d have guessed 1)

Completely raping the retirement of tens of millions of retirees is going to do more than cause people just to post on message boards. Think UHC.

Along with the tens of millions currently living out their retirement on the 401ks, you've got the millions more who would be near retirement suddenly faced with having nothing as well. Someone who has spent 40 years working and saving only to have that snagged away by some hedge fund manager so he doesn't have to go down to only monthly pool cleanings is going to set a lot of people off. Undoubtedly there will be those who, facing a completely unfunded retirement and no work, will see their remaining years being provided "3 hots and a cot" for taking out the a-hole who robbed them, their families and their friends as an acceptable alternative.

This is all true. In coordination with the gov, big banks are allowed to seize investor funds if they are in financial trouble and you are screwed.

After covid, 20/20 election, refusal to do anything about Epstein, etc etc etc.. nothing is off the table. Can you imagine the blowback if someone had tried to assassinate Washington or Jefferson?
