Your parents? Your kids? Your partner? Or do you trust no one?

My dad did it for me on my first car. I made payments. I wouldn't have a problem doing that for my kids as long as they were too crazy.

Are we talking $6,000 junker or an $90k new truck?
That makes a huge difference.

Your mom. She’s earned it.

My parents would never be in a position to need me to cosign, but I would if they asked.

My kids? For their first car, sure. My parents helped me out my first time.

My Wife? lol. She has never been in a dealership once. Every ~5-10 years she tells me what she wants and I go grab it.

You need a co-signer for a car? Come out and say it if you do. Stop beating around the bush, George.

Your services won't be necessary. He's only at 250k miles, he still has 750k to go.

The same ones who did it for me: No one.

People today spoil their kids rotten and then turn around and ask what's wrong with kids today.

I'll probably have to do it for my kid when she finally buys a car. She'd probably be the only one I'd cosign for.

I’d sign for my kids on the first car they buy…after that they’re on their own.

Had a cosigner on my brand new loaded 1985 Toyota SR5 Xtra Cab 4X4.
Thanks, mom!

First Sergeant's Loan when I was a poor Airman in England and needed a car to visit my GF in York. No way I'm going to renege on that one.
Thanks SMSgt. Gomilar!

I did for my daughter. I'm her only backup and it's been a good teaching moment on making smart decisions. She's been on top of it.

Edit: It's her first car.

I'll Probably be co-signing for my son who finished college in December and is working and starting his career. He has little credit history. He has his eyes set on a brand new truck.

So, I see it in my not-too-distant future.

Already have for my daughters. They never missed a payment. Most anyone else, I'd rather help them out with down payment and never expect to be repaid.

Parents have passed away and grand daughter is a long ways from driving, otherwise they'd be on the list.

With my kids I told them I'd give them a dollar for every dollar they saved on their first car (up to $2000).

No teenager needs a car with more than $4000-5000 since they'll probably get in an accident at some point.
