The silent giant amongst us stirred yesterday.

Kid Rock and Cody Johnson have a song out at the same time, with the same name and they are ranked 1 and 2?
Is one a cover of the other?

I assume so, with one or two verses that Kid Rock changed for the show.

Kid rock is way more popular than whoever the frick Bad Bunny is. Nobody even knew who that was, it was just some random dude they found on the street.

While true, this is sales, not streaming. Mostly boomers still "buy" music.

The Short Answer
On iTunes: Yes. Kid Rock currently holds the #1 spot on the iTunes Top Songs chart with his cover of Cody Johnson’s "Til You Can't."
On Billboard: No. The current #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 is "Aperture" by Harry Styles (for the week of February 7) or "Choosin' Texas" by Ella Langley (for the week of February 14).

While Kid Rock is crushing it in digital sales (people buying the song for $1.29), the Billboard Hot 100 factors in massive amounts of streaming data from platforms like Spotify and YouTube. Because younger audiences and pop fans stream in much higher volumes, artists like Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, and Bruno Mars typically maintain the top spots on the "official" national chart, even if a veteran artist like Kid Rock is selling more individual copies in a single week.

A song or artist usually gets a pop after people discover it for the first time.
Kind of like how BB's US downloads went up a million percent after his show.

Great song! That was a fantastic set of performances last night; much better than I expected. This song was the absolute highlight for me though
