Can anyone tell me about SCAD?

My daughter has been accepted at the Savannah College of Art & Design. Other than the fact it’s in Savannah, Georgia, I know nothing about this school. Is anyone familiar with it and can you fill me in on if it’s worth looking into? FWIW, she’s wanting to specialize in marketing.

SCAD is ridiculously expensive, especially for something like marketing that you can get damn near anywhere

Waaaaay over priced to go there for that degree. It's $70,000 a year to go there and it's mainly a liberal arts school. It's not a school that is going to help her get a marketing job when they look at the resume.

Good school. She can get a good education there if she wants. EXTREMELY LIBERAL. Most of the students are pink hair, tattoos and piercings.
I spend a lot of time in downtown Savannah for work and you can pick these kids out from a block away.
I offer the above to let you know that if your kid rolls up in there with a MAGA hat she is going to have trouble. But the school itself is well respected in design and art circles. I have worked with several graduates and they did good work at their jobs (designers, marketing, graphic artists).

I know two people who went there. Both died from Heroin ODs.
That's all I got.

That’s what I figured. I think what’s piqued her interest is we took her to Savannah for a long weekend a year or two ago and she fell in love run the city. She’s not into the leftist blue-haired thing, and I want to keep it that way.
I’m taking her to tour Jacksonville State here in a couple of weeks. I’m hoping that’s where she ends up.

Seems to be respected academically (accredited by SACS) but tuition is a ball buster at over $40K - and that doesn't include housing and fees. She ended up not attending due to overall cost even though she lived in South Carolina.
I think your daughter can get a degree in marketing from a much more prestigious college which has a good business school. Even most regional colleges will provide a marketing degree at much less cost. If I were advising her directly, I'd suggest a university that 1) has a marketing degree in or near the location she eventually wants to end up at, or 2) is an SEC or similar level school even if it is not the primary university in her home state. I think she'd end up with much more value in her degree that way. And if she decides to change her major, she will have far more options within the same college. Any major with an art/design family focus will be limiting within the Southeast.
Disclaimer: My wife teaches marketing at a regional university as an adjunct instructor. She advised her niece to look at other options beyond SCAD for a business degree.
But... that's JMHO. Good luck to her whatever she chooses.
Edit: My youngest son graduated from Jacksonville State. He enjoyed the small town atmosphere there. He came out fine with his degree for his profession, and felt that it prepared him well for his master degree.

Nobody I know that went there uses their degree. A very expensive degree.

I wouldn't waste time or money getting a marketing degree at SCAD. I'm sure the degree is fine, but any college or university worth its salt can provide the same education and degree.
SCAD educations, for as long as I can remember, should be reserved for those wanting to get into the fashion industry, become a professional photographer (and not the type that shoots weddings or family portraits), or New York/Los Angeles graphic designer.

Warning. If you don’t want your daughter radicalized by liberal heathens, don’t send her there. I have a friend whose 2 daughters went there as middle of the road politics. Came back as transgender hairy armpit butches.

the only person I know that went there had her very rich uncle (house near the Hamptons) pay for it. first job was designing carpet squares.
