What were they arrested for?

When I was in high school in the late 80’s a 17 or 18 year old found a black trash bag full of weed in a ditch in back of Youngsville. Not sure what he did with it.

Kids were so much cooler back then.

Article doesn't say, but they were simply returned home and made to turn in the rest of the money

If the kid was smart, it was really $20,000 that was thrown out by the drug dealer.

I once found a backpack that someone must have thrown out into my front yard. All it had was what I assumed was a shitty makeshift meth lab and a few small baggies of skunk weed.

That had to be awesome. I was so much of a nerd that I’m sure I would have turned it in.
The only somewhat relatable story I have is that a neighborhood frick up stole $500 from the business his mom worked at. It was the weekend of the state fair in BR and he and his friends seemed to have had a good time.

They stayed one night in a motel, then hired a limousine to San Francisco. There they had steak dinners, played arcade games at Pier 39, bought matching leather jackets, and stayed in a hotel.
Next they flew first class using fake names to Chicago and then Columbus, Ohio. They spent money on hotels, restaurants, rented films, and generous tips.
Five days later they were arrested at the Columbus airport with about $5,000 remaining. The juvenile charges were dropped.
Amazing they did all of that for $3 Grand...
The 80's were awesome...

Kids today would go to the grocery store and buy $8k worth of compromised Robolox gift cards.

This should have fallen under the international law of "Finders/Keepers".

their parents were probably coked up but they didn't even notice their kids were not at home all of that time?

I may or may not know a few kids who had a very similar story yet did not get caught.

a girl in my HS (transferred to Belaire) found a boot box completely filled with weed. I think she and her gel head friends at Belaire smoked the entire box.

"What were you doing a week ago today?"
"Having a great time."
I see fricking civil forfeiture was bullshite back in the 80s as well. No doubt some of the cops kept that money for themselves.
