Nuss is a great QB and if given a chance, a proper team and the right opportunity will do well in the NFL.

He got hurt in August, during practice, when the reports came out.

Because MVB was limited in abilities, they had to keep playing him....they had no choice.

Couple that with a o-line that was awful.....and a running game that was non existent....our offense was a disaster.

The failure started in 2024 after JD left when we could not or would not establish a running game.

The failure compounded when we had no backup plan if Bryce Underwood flipped.

Sloan was too inexperienced or not football savy enough to handle things...........and BK could not give a damn or could not do anything about it, because he was not involved in the game plan....

.....ultimately the offense was a disaster....

This is not on Nuss, or the players.

As much as I supported BK during his tenure....LSU did the right thing biting the bullet and getting rid of him.

I don’t know how there’s any other view. You’d have to be an idiot to think he wasn’t injured. You don’t just lose your fastball like that

Saints gonna draft him in the 4th and create a QB controversy with Shough.

Nah he’ll likely get picked up by Steelers, Rams, Cards, or Cowboys in 2nd or 3rd.

I’d take him with the Steelers.

He sucked when we were paying him 7 figures. You can make excuses all you want, but moral victories mean jack shite.

He sucked when it mattered. Full stop.

I don't think you're far off. Just speculation on my part . . .

To backup just a little. The '24 OL was talented and could pass block, but we didn't run the ball well. During Spring practice '25, I think it was obvious to Sloan that we were not gonna be able to run the ball and our pass protection was suspect as well.

Sloan tells BK. BK tells Joe, 'you're the OC, figure it out.' So Joe shrinks the playbook and tries to compensate with all the quick throw to the sidelines. We had some playmakers at WR (AA, BB, and ZT). And I think he probably did want to stretch the field vertically but knew we weren't gonna have lots of clean pockets. We may not have had a Chase or a Malik but we did have some good WR talent.

Fast fwd to Fall, 25, Nuss is hurt. The playbook shrinks even more. The vertical game is off the table. Someone makes the decision that our best chances are with an injured Nuss than with MVB and that's how we play '25.

If you're in Sloan's shoes, what do you do? Your OL can't run block or pass protect. When you call plays and you have the #s and then the sheer lack of fundamentals torpedoes it, what do you do. I'm not convinced Sloan was an absolute dolt. Who knows? I just don't think Joe Brady or Sean Payton was gonna make a good omelet with bad eggs.

As for Nuss, he needed to make better decisions at times. Every QB does. Fans can cherry-pick a bad read here-n-there but by and large, Nuss was good at reading Ds. But when he lost his ability to improvise, his game changed.

For my part, I blame BK for about 90% of the slop - he seemingly held no one on his staff accountable. And BD for about 8%. FTR, he didn't need BK chewing his butt to coach well. He could've taken the initiative. Either he doesn't know how or followed BK's lead into free-loading.

Glad SW, BK, and Davis are gone. And wish Nuss the best.

The truth could be somewhere in the middle. He was definitely hurt and it negatively affected his play. Not sure how anyone can definitively say that he’s a “great” quarterback though

Then why did he grade out as one of the worst deep ball passers in the conference in the season he wasn't injured?

He's a gunslinger that panics when he faces pressure because he doesn't have the mobility to extend the plays.

I love Nuss. I think most other kids would have transferred a long time ago. He never was in trouble here or a distraction. When he was benched he acted with class. I always thought Kelly treated him much worse on the sidelines than he did with Jayden.

He was clearly hurt, I don't know the injury but I watch his film since he was a sophomore in high school and the kid always had a cannon, something was wrong last year.

Plus seeing him after Bama at home this year was just so damn sad. Just sucks to see him wait his turn, do everything right and then he has to watch his team desperately need a QB.

With that all said - he's not a NFL QB. He's a good backup option and he'll be a great coach one day but he's not a legit option to be an nfl starter in my opinion. I hope he's a hall of famer but I would touch him in first 5 rounds

Nuss finished up third in career passing yards (7,699). Behind Hodson and Joe. Finished second in season passing yards. Tied fourth with JaMarcus with 52Tds in a career. The guy still has talent. An NFL team will draft him. Where he goes from there, anyone’s guess.
I wish him the best.

He needs to do better at this if he is going to succeed at the next level. We know he isnt running for 25 yards but taking off to pick up say 7 or 8 yards and first is all that is needed.

You can pay 900 figures if you want, but an injured QB won't win you are championship. Your reaction is classic....throw money at a problem and a solution will be obtained.....life does not work that way.....but you have to have an IQ of above 50 to figure that out....

It is honestly stupid to think he did anything other than quit.

He was not injured at all. He did everything in the senior bowl that we've been begging him to do all year. And yet didn't play the bowl.

It's BKs fault.

I'm taking Nuss over Ty Simpson and Beck. Maybe over Chambliss too if I can study more tape on him.

My question is: why was MVB on the team? If you can't trust the guy to put him in the game, and instead have a backup that you won't play, why is the backup on the team? I don't expect to have three deep like Kiffin has done for next year, but why does LSU never have a decent backup QB? This should never happen.

LSU was never going to win a championship with even a fully healthy Nuss. His decision making was too bad to lead a team anywhere of significance

I’m grateful for how it all played out for LSU. At the end of the day, we got rid of the prick Brian Kelly and breathed new life in to the program by hiring the guy we should’ve hired 5 years ago, Lane Kiffin. Now this experiment may blow up in our faces but on paper, this is the most best hire we’ve made since Nick Saban. We have finally stabilized one side of the ball we have been so inconsistent at since Saban left. We have seen what LSU can do with an elite offense, in the 2 times we’ve had them. No more CEO type coaches.

Not a bash at Nuss because I hope it all works out for him but his injury or whatever caused his bad play this year, I’m thankful for. Kelly gave us no hope or excitement. He blamed all his deficiencies here on everyone and everything, except for the 1 person that was there through it all, himself.
