When you get healthcare, how much do you tip?

Healthcare? The payment i make is the tip after insurance. Never seen that at a medical place. Who gets the tip?

If the nurse is cute, I give her the whole shaft. Gross doctor, just the tip.

When it comes to tipping for healthcare I identify as black.

The only time you leave a tip in health care, is when you have a circumcision.

I had a newly hired phlebotomist ask if he could accept tips. Told him yes, but he would be immediately fired. Actually, I have only heard of one incident in health care where someone tried to tip a phlebotomist and that was an idiot friend of mine.

I give my dentist and primary doctor wine for Christmas. Does that count?

I tip those “spin that screen around” folks absolutely nothing. I tip a bartender a dollar per drink, and a waitress who take our order and brings us the food gets 20-25 percent.
Those folks make less than minimum wage. They depend on tips. The person at the donut counter does not.
Lots of things are done better in Europe. Tipping culture is one of them.

That's almost surely one of those non-diagnostic "for fun" sonos that people do these days. Prenatal Peek is one of the more known franchises. Those are cash only enterprises set to click the right social media boxes. Even more reason to be incensed about new tipping paradigms.

I agree this is tacky but in fairness it’s probably not an actual medical clinic like you’d think but one of those new boutique type ultrasound places they have now.

Only health care I’ve ever felt a need to tip for was a prostate exam.

My primary care doctor has a small staff. I stop by a local store and pick up a sackful of sausage/cheese/egg biscuits. I keep one until my blood is drawn. They always send me a thankyou note.
My dentist refilled a filling (1.5 years old) and didn't charge me. Went to the bakery down the street and brought the staff a box of apple fritters and petit-fours.

The thread is about being asked for tips, not about accepting the tip

Can we get rid of tipping all together?

No tips, but I sometimes complete the surveys they send.
It’s pretty sad that cardiologists and dermatologists are reduced to begging for a good review like a YouTuber with a makeup tips channel.

I wonder how much the Somalis tip with free healthcare.

I normally leave them a urine sample and then send them a 1099 at the end of the year.

How happy am I at the end of the appointment?
