One thing the rant was wrong about - Derek Stingly is that good

He got a lot of unwarranted hate from our fan base IMO. I'm glad to see he is having such a successful NFL career.
On another note it's also great to see Hunter be so good in the NFL. Our coaching staff at the time didn't let him excel how he could have.

But when Derek Stingley Jr played at LSU most fans loved him.

There was never a straight story about what happened to him before 2020 MSU game… damn we were snakebit after the championship.
If 20 and 21 had been normal seasons he’d be remembered like PP7 and TM7.

I don’t think anyone at all thought he was bad but a lot thought he quit on the team.
Not saying I agree, but that was the thought at the time.

I think the issues with Stingley in regards to the fans was his "injury" issues and the fact his dad was acting like an a-hole. I don't think people questioned his abilities and skill set, but rather his commitment to the team.

That true freshman year of his - 2019 - he was truly electric. Ultra-elite, right out of the gate.
My favorite moment: the interception in the south endzone against Florida. That game was actually a little too close for comfort before that.

I don’t remember anyone saying Stingley wasn’t great. The criticism was around him opting out (I think he was actually injured).
He got toasted by the Alabama and Florida receivers, probably due to poor technique, but whatever it was he got it straightened out.
