It’s a signed 1935 Commission for the Bituminous Coal Commissioner, signed by FDR and secretary of State.

I have the one for my great-grandfather when he commissioned as a calvary lieutenant out of West Point. Signed by Theodore Roosevelt.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but I find it hard to believe that someone in possession of something signed by a sitting president would have no idea of its value.

Found it today at an estate sale in New Orleans (I know, who has an estate sale the day after Christmas?).

It was one of the giant houses on City Park Drive.

It wasn’t cheap, they had it marked in the low 3 figures.

Has it been authenticated? FDR had secretaries, like other presidents, sign some things for him. I’m not an expert but I do watch Pawn Stars reruns and some of these documents aren’t worth much. But I hope this is exception to the rule for you.
