Released text messages show what happened in the hours following the death of a teen girl onboard a Carnival cruise ship in November. Messages between Anna Kepner's stepmom and her ex-husband show the family's concern regarding their 16-year-old son's name being kept out of the media, keeping information from being released and maintaining that their son doesn't remember anything.

Text messages show that the family was trying to keep facts about the events and the teen boy's possible connection to Anna's death out of the media and social media.

The family even asserted that they don't want the son's name released. "OK, I know everything is supposed to be hush hush for now but ive seen that it is still getting out with post and comments between facebook tiktok and stuff … i just want to make sure until things are certain that he doesn’t get an(y) unnecessary comments towards him," Hudson texted on Nov. 9 around 10:35 a.m.

"Nobody knows anything about him. He is a minor and has been kept completely out of it we have not said anything to anybody and we are going to try out best to keep it completely out he is a minor so his name shouldn’t be anywhere and when we talk to the fbi again we will reiterate that we do not want his name out there and everything that’s been posted on tiktok and social media nobody knows anything and everybody’s just speculating, we know what i told you last night and we’ll know exactly more when the autopsy is done.

Once we get the autopsy today, depending on what it says, depend on whether he’s booked on those charges," Hudson-Kepner responded.

quote:

Copenhaver told FOX 35's Esther Bower that these messages alerted his "spidey senses." "They did damage control, their own PR department," Copenhaver said. "I’m going to say 100% they know more than what they are telling. We are going to protect you. We are going to keep you out of the light. Let’s stay off of special [sic] media."

Crazy story. Said he didn’t take his insomnia meds that night, doesn’t remember anything. Texts don’t prove anything, but not a great look.

Why would anybody assume that your text messages are hidden from authorities?

Contrary to what most people assume, the average criminal is incredibly stupid

I guess it depends on the meds, but usually it’s taking the meds while not falling asleep that causes someone to not remember what they did during that timeframe.

They should join the support group with the Ramsey's, OJ, Gary Condit, and the Stotches.

The fact that he hasn’t been arrested for the murder is insane.

I hate when people say this word. People are just such mindless robots when it comes to the medical model. Doc says here take this…sure doc whatever you say! Oh, and take this one too…sure! Whatever you say doc! These parents put their kid on brain altering drugs and he is now a murderer. Doesn’t that make alarm bells go off in anybody’s head??!! Yet no mention of him taking this poison as a possible contributing factor. And the kid was on medicine for insomnia??!! What 16 year old have you ever met that couldn’t sleep 16 hours a day??!!

And using “meds” shows that you are nothing more than a conditioned dog salivating when the bell rings.

So this kid was already screwed up, they made it worse by drugging him, and now they’re more concerned about coddling him than they are about their dead 18 year old daughter! Sick white trash people!

As someone who dealt with severe insomnia when I was 20/21, this is the most ignorant thing you stated in an entire post of ignorance.

It comes off as if you don't believe insomnia truly exists. I can assure you it does. And it's dangerous.

Lack of sleep is ultimately deadly. But before it gets to that point, it causes hallucinations, both visual and auditory.

Those start at around 3 days of inadequate sleep: think about 4-6 hours sleep in 72 hours.

The sleep deprived person cannot distinguish that what they are seeing and hearing aren't real. To them it's as real as they are. And the auditory hallucinations usually are the voices of people they know telling them what they should do and to listen to only their voice.

It's legit paranoia.

I'm not saying that that's what was going on with the 16 year old, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Missing his medication for one night wouldn't lead to that, but if he hadn't taken it for days, and didn't sleep because of that, then it could be possible.

It would be more plausible if they said he DID take the insomnia mads (Ambien) but he didn't fall asleep.

That shite should be banned. If you are not horizontal within 20 munities of taking it, it will turn you into a zombie and you will be fully functional and have no memory of anything you say or do.

I personally know several people that tried ambien to stop smoking and they all quit taking it after getting up in the middle of the night and cooking full meals or doing laundry with no memory of doing such the next day.

Wtf is wrong this dad? If my biological child was murdered by my stepson, I would be losing my mind, not scheming to protect him.

Could be motion sickness medication.

Scopolamine is an rx because in other countries it is used as a date rape drug.

Has it ever occurred to you that the reason he needed the medication may be why he murdered someone? Or in your mind does "insert whatever medication he was on" make people murder others?

Which do you honestly think is the more likely truth?

I got that in my eyes once before going on a cruise and it looked like I was having a stroke because both of my pupils were completely blown, though one a bit more than the other (because I put that contact in first). Was not cool and pretty unsettling until we figured it out.
