Sounds like it’s still visually stunning but it’s the same movie for the 3rd time. I’ll still see it because it’s always an awesome theatre experience but I’m not as fired up about it as 1 and 2.

Always amazed that anyone would go watch a cartoon about JarJar’s cousins. Despite their box office, don’t you find it weird that they have literally no impression on our culture? Not one quote, or meme, etc.

I know I can't. The second one being the exact same story, except a different location, did it for me. if they would have killed the villain I maybe could have bought into it just for the theatre experience knowing the story would at least be slightly different, but it's going to be the same exact story again.
But I was never really big on them anyway. Saw both of them once in the theatre and never had the desire to rewatch them.

The ads for this one are visually stunning, but (to me) in an overkill way. There's too much going on and I don't like to wonder what part of the view I'm supposed to be watching because that part is important.
Disney used to do it so that the overall scene was pleasant, but I could easily focus on THE character and why the scene was happening.

This is the part i don't get. Why not cut out some of the unnecessary scenes (that is a lot for these movies) so it isn't so long. The theaters can turn over more movies in a day that way.

Does Cameron think that all those things are necessary to advance the story?
This is the man who made a fortune telling the Titanic story by building characters (making LdC a star) and getting young girls so enthralled by that love story that they went to that movie multiple times at full price.
How did his style become so enthralled with computer generated stuff?

All you have to do is watch a trailer to know it’s the exact same rehashed shite again. It’s amazing how creative Cameron can be in a single movie or in visual effects and cinematography, but completely inept in writing a new plot for a sequel

This is what happens when you sign up to make Quaritch the villain for 5 movies.
It’s the same thing. New location, new tribe, Quaritch trying to kill them. And it will be the same for the last two as well.

This one will do well financially, but if I had to guess, this is the last one we see. Cameron recently acquired the rights to Joe Abercrombie’s latest novel The Devils (fun read for any fantasy fans) so I’m hoping he directs that next.
That said, I will be watching this in 3D Friday. Might need to double up on edibles after this review though.

The first Avatar was visually groundbreaking and even though copped its story had an original world/universe/characters. Now these movies are no different than children’s animated blockbusters. It’s still going to make money but the returns and interest are diminishing and will continue because Cameron has gone nowhere with the story.

Everyone knows it's the same thing over and over. I don't think this one hits 2 billion, but I'm still expecting 1.7 - 1.8 billion. It's looking like it'll be huge in China.
