I've got a couple pics in the past few days of bucks bumping does at the corn feeder with there nose low to the ground. Anyone else been seeing any pre rut sign? Our rut usually doesn't happen till Christmas or after and is pretty short lived.

What you are seeing is what others are seeing, and it's pretty on-time for SW MS. It happens every year.

A friend saw a good buck pushing a doe Saturday in Woodville. I was skeptical because that seems early but he was not lying. Maybe it’s a little early this year

We have seen young bucks chasing but non receptive does, the bigger bucks are cruising but not chasing yet at least from what we have seen. I'm in northern Claiborne county.

all my years of hunting the big black and SW MS is that December 20th - January 3rd is usually the sweet spot for getting a wall hanger. I would imagine a lot of posters have killed a lot of good bucks in that 2 week period.

Our property almost butts up to the LA/MS line in Norwood. Your timeline is spot on, killed a 140" on Dec 20th two years ago. No one on our property had ever even seen the deer. He was just passing through at the wrong time.

Killed a young 8pt buck chasing a doe on Dec 3rd. He was the bigger of the 2 chasing her. (public)

I’ve grunted in bucks almost every time I’ve grunted and thrashed on the ground sounding like chasing. (public)

Cameras are definitely showing some nudging and harassment of does on plots along with couple new bucks showing up. Seems like they slowly making their way back to plots and feeders. (private)

Killed a nice 8 2 weeks ago. He was following a doe. I also saw some smaller bucks following does the same weekend.

I'm in West Fel parish and I've had them on camera bumping does off of the feeders. I never see bucks at the feeder cams until the rut starts kicking off.

We’re between Liberty and McComb and have just seen typical runs/scrapes. Usually between Dec 20-Jan 1 is the rut. I'm heading up tomorrow to hunt and make sure everything is tied up for next week when I’m off.

Killed bucks on December 28, 30, and January 9 in years passed when we used to hunt Claiborne County. 2 were on the move after does, one was bedded in the area waiting on a sweetie. He walked in front of my lock-on grunting at a girl before daylight. First time I had ever heard a buck in pursuit like that. Sure do miss those days. Leased property never lasts

Cheat code unlocked
Start an excel spreadsheet with the date of every pic of mature buck daylighted killed or seen. Ignore the noise of small bucks and bucks chased by a dog or jumped.
Once you see a pattern ignore all the naysayers and hunt that window hard even some all day sits.

Lorman, Ms up against the river. My second year having this small tract. Last year there were some monsters cruising through in first half of January. This year the pigs have recently inundated and all deer activity (as far as cameras go) has ceased. Going to stop feeding except for what’s going in the hog traps. I had more deer last year without corn.

My feeders are inside small fences. No corn on the ground that a hog can get to. They root up my plots and it pisses me off. I hate those frickers
