SELA marsh - kids had a great time. Couple greenwing, dogs, shoveler, and pintail hen. Saw more than expected considering the conditions. Great weekend at the camp.

What farad said - there's already a thread on this topic. If you want info on a specific location then you should probably do some scouting yourself. SE LA is a big area. I have a buddy that hunts a bit in the Pointe Aux Chenes area. Got a sweet camp set up out there. He's going this weekend for the opener. I'll get a report from him on Saturday and can post his report later this weekend.

South Lafourche's finest. Casey does a great job with youth, middle school, and high school coverage daily.

I, too, know this outlaw of which you speak

This is hilarious whether you like him or not. UPVOTE

Roosevelt Potts, Greg Robinson, and Irving Spikes all started at RB in the NFL and played at NLU along with WRs Vincent Brisby, Jackie Harris, Marty Booker and Stepfret Williams. Moving to 1-A was a stupid move by NLU and their talent level has been limited the last 20 years. Those early 90s NLU teams would have given a bad LSU team from then fits.

Joe Profit was another NLU RB that played a few years in the NFL. Drafted by the Atlanta Falcons. My dad blocked for him in college.

What is the best way to clean/re-season/restore a pot that has gone rancid?
The solution is simple - change his jersey number back to #40

I have a buddy who had the same issue with his. He had spent a weekend at a camp behind the Sulfur Mine pulling kids on a tube in the canals near Bayou Blue and surrounding marsh. All of that area is silted in from Ida. He also treated his boat like a mudboat during duck season, running real shallow water and hitting stuff. Pretty sure it's the culmination of all of that which led to his engine troubles. Worst part about it is this is the time of year when fishing gets really good near his house and now he won't be able to make those easy trips that are close to his house. I feel so bad for him...
GET THE BRIGGS AND STRATTON HOSE
I got bell pepper seeds from my mom's plants that did really well this past year. Put seeds in potting soil in peat cups and currently have 4 of those growing. Did the paper towel in a ziploc at the end of February and have 2 more of those growing. Got 1 Grand Bell Pepper growing and have 2 Mini Sweet Peppers growing. These were seeds from bagged peppers bought at Sam's.

My black lab loves cucumbers. I had to wrap my garden with chainlink. Originally ran 2x4s around raised beds to keep her out of there (she grubbed the tops of all my green beans). Eventually wrapped the whole garden with chainlink. It's only 17x24 and has existing fence on 2 sides. At least the old girl is a healthy eater.

re: kids spending money

Posted by Lesser Scaup on 2/13/24 at 10:55 am to
We just started a program with our kids. 4.0 on a report card gets them $50. If not, then it's $5 for every "A". Half of this money is put in a savings account earning 2.5% interest with Capital One. The other half is distributed at the end of the 9-weeks. I created a chart to track behavior/habits. If they misbehave or are reprimanded, they get a mark on the chart. Each mark is a 25 cent deduction from "their money." At the end of the 9-weeks the chart marks get added up, deductions are made from the remaining balance, and then they are entitled to what's left of the other half. It can be distributed in cash or placed in their savings account. I explained compounding interest to them - my middle kid ran to his room, grabbed a $10 out of his piggy bank, and threw it on the counter and said "Put that in my account!"

Mom has several, and they are full of bees. Gonna try to find one to add and see how it works out.

Bottlebrush plants

Anyone plant bottlebrush in the garden to keep the bees around for pollination?
