Why this current playoff format sucks

I'm definitely not advocating for more teams that have zero chance of winning the title, but the current model is stupid. The goal should be to get the best 12 teams. That's not what we're getting.
I hate Bama with all my heart and soul but they would destroy Tulane, BYU, Virginia, etc. And they would comfortably defeat Ole Miss, Indiana, and Texas Tech.

Hahaha. Bama couldn’t comfortably beat South Carolina (8 losses), LSU (no coach and horrendous offense), or Auburn (7 conference losses). But they would comfortably beat those good teams? Sure

Dumb take. First game of the year. You can cherry pick individual games and upsets but if Alabama played Virginia, Tulane or BYU on a neutral field Vegas would set a double digit spread.

I remember hearing this last year
Then Alabama lost to Michigan, Notre dame beat Georgia, USC beat A&M and Scar lost… to Illinois
This Alabama team lost to Florida state. A bad Acc team

That is definitely not why the playoff sucks, also, i know it's hard to change perceptions and Alabama was so good for so long but they aren't good right now. Saban isn't walking through that door. They were less than a week ago they were outplayed by a terrible football team WI played one of the worst games of their terrible year.

The main dislike I have is teams playing this weekend against those sitting at home

I want to see what adjustment the top 4 teams make this year to better shake off the rust of not playing in 3 1/2 weeks while their opponent played game around 10 days before.
