Wow, so now Auburn might actually get invited to a bowl!

Years down the road everyone on that team that voted no is gonna think man I’m a total idiot .

Ending season early. Foregoing all the perks that come with a bowl game. Even the shitty ones hook up the players.

I didn’t k ow these things were decided by the players. But also, KSU was 6-6 and likely going to Liberty or Independence. Not too exciting. Another dozen practices over the holidays to prep to be in Shreveport or Memphis. Another chance of injury. Many players probably won’t be on the team next year even if they have eligibility. I bet some of the seniors wanted to play, esp those who aren’t NFL prospects.

Yep. All that shite they talked after beating 39 scholarship players a few years ago and now they're too pussy to do it themselves.

This is so stupid. These kids have the opportunity to play a sport they love and 99.9% of them will never play after college. Wasted opportunities in life.

What kind of school leadership even gives the players this option?

You lose the practices, the publicity, whatever financial compensation(which is probably breakeven), and you are putting the program first.

This is so odd, what's the reasoning? Play one last game for your coach going out.

Need to get rid of bowls that aren’t playoff games.

I still remember the 1969 LSU team skipping a bowl at McClendon's urging because the Cotton Bowl decided to take Notre Damned over LSU and the Sugar Bowl gave LSU the finger and picked Ole Piss to turn the dagger!

You are correct. A Free trip. A bunch of merch and a cool swag bag. A chance to be around your friends in a different town. A chance to continue playing the game you (supposedly) love. A chance to put a trophy in your schools trophy case (no matter how insignificant).

Oh, and a chance to practice for another month as a team so you are better next year.

They were super stoked to beat up on a 39 man LSU team a few years back and acted like they actually accomplished something.

My son played college soccer and it was the best time of his life. There are so many awesome moments that made great memories that will last a lifetime. He’ll have a special bond with his teammates forever. He wouldn’t have traded it for the world and he would go back and do it all over again if he had the chance.

I just can’t fathom giving up the opportunity to play in a bowl game. Especially for those who will never suit up with their teammates again. Like another poster said, one day they’ll wake up and realize what a misty made.

But then again, they probably all think they’ll be playing in the NFL next year.
