Costco
sued the Trump administration to get a full refund of new tariffs it paid so far this year, and to block those import duties from continuing to be collected from the retail warehouse club giant as a Supreme Court case plays out.

In the suit filed Friday, Costco said that it risks losing the money it has already paid to satisfy the tariffs even if the Supreme Court eventually upholds earlier lower court rulings that found President Donald Trump did not have the legal power to impose those duties.

The company noted a looming Dec. 15 deadline that could prevent the tariffs that it has already paid on an estimated basis from being refunded. Costco did not say how much money it believes should be refunded to the company.

So we should see prices at Costco really fall if they win.

Right?

I just wonder how many of you even read the article and if so, whether they understood it.

These suits are going to happen more as companies have no choice if they want to get repaid for tariffs that they paid. There is another lawsuit already ruled that has declared those tariffs illegal. That suit needs to work its way through our courts.

Otherwise, as a generally comment- Companies have swallowed tariffs but they can’t forever. Prices will rise.

It’s been reported for months now. Walmart, target, Marshall’s, tj maxx, etc, will pass along the tariffs to consumers eventually.

This.

A company’s CEO or owner could personally agree with the tariffs, but if he/she wants their company to be able to qualify for reimbursement should the tariffs be declared unconstitutional, it sounds like the have to sign on.

That's quite an assumption.

No. It is what has happened in the past when tariffs were used. Margins will eventually be maintained.

It's a fundamental premise of a free market. When suppliers have to pay more they charge more.

No man, you see, it's the corporations, man...they make profits. They make too much profits and just don't need to make as much.

I thought we have been told the increased prices were all because of the tariffs and companies trying to maintain their margins? Remember the videos on social media of box store employees removing price tags and blaming it all on the tariffs?
