I enjoy seeing your beautiful pics of the woods. Be honest, how many of you take a nap?

Not a hunter, but some of those pictures are so peaceful that I could easily see myself dozing off and letting a big one walk past.

I normally try to hold off till mid day, there is no better feeling than a cold day and laying in the full sun on the side of ridge with a hat over your eyes and catching a 15min Power Nap.

I don’t unless I’m going a long sit.

My biggest problem is needing to pee.

That's what I'm talking about! So, I take it you're in a shooting house or can you nap in one of the stands hanging off the side of a tree?

I was hunting on the ground Friday and dozed off for an hour or so. Woke up to a damn doe stomping at me. Couldn't get a shot.
I fell asleep before daylight in my saddle a couple of weeks ago. Rested my head on the bridge. My head slipped off and I woke up thinking I was in a free fall. Probably looked like I was having a seizure in the tree.

So what is a long sit? Are we talking an hour or two or longer? Also, I take it you don't drink or eat a lot prior to hunting to avoid mother nature screwing up your hunt.

Tin roof with a light rain and cold weather (like this past week) and I’m out like a light come 9:30 AM. Nothing better than a nice office chair in a box blind.
Never dared sleep in a tree stand even with a harness

In the stand at 6:00-6:15. Hunt until 10-11 or later.

At my lease I typically get down by 10 or so but during the rut I will pull some all day sits. 11-1 I can get in a 10-15 nap in my saddle or climber.
When I was a teenager I once woke up at about 2:30 to something and looked over my shoulder and saw a 125in buck about to walk through a wall of thicket.
I quickly assessed the situation and texas heart shot it,, not one of my proudest moments lol.

I might nod off before sun up for 10 minutes, but not during the day. Except one time it was raining, I had my poncho over everything in the tree like a tent and napped while it passed. That was nice.

Usually only if I drove up that morning, and typically this time of year. I'll lock in closer to the rut.

About 30 years ago, I climbed into a 4x4 box stand with an office chair and figured I’d shut my eyes until daybreak (about 20 minutes away) and opened them at 9:30. Looked around, saw no deer, climbed down and got back to camp and said, “Ain’t saw shite!” Good times!

I was drawn for a refuge muzzleloader hunt years ago. It was a one day hunt and I’d made the long drive up that morning. I found a good funnel and climbed up in my Loggy Bayou. After a while, I couldn’t stay awake. I climbed down and went to sleep at the base of the tree. I could hear something walking, but it took forever for me to open my eyes. There’s a doe @ 10 yards. I tried to roll up to a sitting position and shoot. Didn’t work.

Just this weekend at Mass, our priest talked about how much he loves going deer hunting because he can settle in and take the best naps in the blind.

As a kid/teenager before having the entire internet in my hand and much shittier cell service I probably took a nap every morning hunt. I once walked out and saw fresh deer tracks, in my footprints, 20 yards behind the stand.

We usually get in fairly early with plenty time to spare, so I'm either trying to take a power nap before shooting light or wondering if that noise coming from under my stand is a rougarou

I hunt a box stand. I do my best not to doze off. Sometimes you get a 5 sec window to shoot. But if I had a long night it happens. Usually 15 min at most.

I really don’t go out much anymore. I stay at the camp and cook, do random chores and drink bourbon.
If you see me going out to hunt, it’s for a nap!
