Obviously, Woodward was more of a problem than any of us realized. Today made that all very clear. Kiffin speaking to Landry and being sold makes the whole situation better.

My problem with Landry was not running the bus over Woodward. My problem was it was clearly political theater because Woodward IMO was a lame duck AD. You pay a coach that money that Kelly got in a long term contract in the most important sport at a school and the guy fails at the job. You are D.E.A.D. in keeping your own job.

I think you are giving him too much credit. He wasn't playing 5D chess, he just saw an opportunity to score cheap political points and took it, which is what he always does.

I was never a Woodward hater. But it actually does sound like he was a bit of a problem. Hindsight 20/20 I’m glad he is gone.

Landry did huge damage in his involvement. He got good advice on damage control, and despite headwinds and negative publicity he alone created, LSU got a top coach.
Make no mistake: LSU got Kiffin despite Landry, instead of because of him.

Not trying to be a smart arse, but some of us realized it. I wanted BOTH Kelly and Woodward fired, and LSU is much better off today because BOTH are gone.
Bel Edwards might be a better speaker than Landry, but JBE would've never taken the bull bu the horns and gotten this done the way Landry did.

He was able to help clean up a mess he created. That doesn't deserve a pass. The rest of the nation still remembers him going in front of every microphone he could find to make LSU look bad. He also blathered about how LSU would not issue another contract like BK's. Most of us knew that would either lead to hiring a shitty coach or to paying more than BK was paid, which is what we are doing.
