Had they actually done that, they wouldn’t be in the mess they’re in right now. Cutting bait last week would’ve been the right move

If I’m Carter I don’t let him keep coaching either. Why would I?

His point is valid. Now more than ever college football is a business. This is just business.

The problem with that was OM had to win Friday to stay in CFP/SECCG hunt. They gambled that letting him stay for the week and clinch a playoff birth would keep him in Oxford.

They lost.

Why should anyone have a problem with this?

I don't see this so much as defending Ole Miss as defending the series of events. If anything, it vindicates LSU.

Not really. Had we tried to cut bait last week, then we would have been dealing with this drama on game week with a playoff berth on the line. As it stands, we are dealing with it with the playoffs secured and a whole month to figure out the playoffs.

Initially I thought we messed up by keeping him but in retrospect, seems like the smarter move.

Well, not only did they want to guarantee themselves a playoff spot, there's some financial implocations to doing that

I’m fine with LSU looking like the “good guy” telling Kiffin they’re fine with him finishing out the season, but I don’t really want my new coach working for someone else.

if you think you needed him to coach the egg bowl to secure a playoff spot, Why would you think you don't need him to coach in the playoffs?

The NCAA is the problem with their absolute ridiculous timelines for things. It makes for huge issues when coaches decide to pursue other opportunities. Sucks, but that"s the way it is.

I think that was just us being smart and giving him the hall pass knowing OM would never allow it
