For the Life of Me, Why Doesn’t OM Say “Okay LK, You Can Coach the Playoffs”?

What the frick do they have to lose if at this stage, Kiffin is leaving anyway? It is in OM’s favor the longer this drags out and with each passing day there is always the chance he changes his mind and stays—especially after an emotional playoff win.
Whether Verge is a mouthpiece or speaking for himself, this cuckold LSU response “Coach them as long as you want, Lane!” is idiotic. We are going to drag this out another month or more with nothing signed, just LK’s word?
I agree with another poster that LSU is NOT fine with Kiffin coaching the Ole Miss playoff run, but LSU can afford to take the high road and pretend like they are since OM is dead set against it. But if OM capitulates and lets Kiffin coach the playoff, LSU can’t really backtrack and say “Oops! Now we’re against it!” No matter their motive, LSU is stuck.
There is plenty stupidity to go around here. As the circumstances stand this Sunday morning, allowing CLK to coach the playoff would be the BEST thing for Ole Miss. And despite these idiots on this board who say it would be a good thing, OM allowing CLK to coach the playoff with nothing but a verbal pledge—if even that—to LSU would be the WORST thing for LSU.
And yes, as someone said, if they don’t trust LK to not poach, have someone from the AD’s office at all the meetings and practices.
Plenty of stupidity to go around here at OM and LSU. But LSU’s stupidity has no consequences unless OM lets go of theirs.

Because it hurts them in the long run exponentially, and I’m not even sure it helps at all for the playoff run

There are zero positives for them to do that. Its hilarious that so many here seem to think thats an option for them.

Because Ole Miss is going to get absolutely shite on by the first good team they play.
They barely beat us

Your wife is Leaving you for your next door neighbor with a bigger dick but says she’ll stay with you through Christmas so you won’t be alone for parties, etc. You ok with that?

Because once he’s committed to a rival, you have to get him out of the building because you can’t trust trust that anything he’s doing is in the best interest of the team that will be part of his competition the moment he steps off a plane in BR.
It’s the same reason why when you give your “notice” at jobs in competitive industries, they lock your PC, take your keys and phone and escort you to the door immediately.
Though it seems logical to the players of OM to allow his to finish what he started, you can’t allow him in the building the moment he commits himself to a competitor. It’s business and I’d honestly hope LSU would do the same if the tables were turned.

Bc of Pride. Old South Pride. It creates a delusional version of reality wherein they convince themselves they are better, Oxford is the perfect town, the OM community consists of the classiest people, and no one would choose LSU trash over them. When reality slaps the tar out of them, they become bitter and vindictive.

Nice that you are literate enough to attempt an analogy. Too bad this one is dumb as frick.

It is obvious this is a major piece of their argument to keep him. You are calling others stupid. Maybe slow down and think about it. Wanting to finish the season with a valid chance for a natty is what any coach would want.

It's like they got left at the alter and then went home after the wedding and have to live with that same person for a month or two. Sound like fun?

They don't have a valid chance to win the natty.
Anyone who thinks Ole Miss could beat Ohio State for example is delusional

Do the players even want to play for him knowing he’s out? Trying to have too much glory here. When you are out you are out.

If he is coming here, why would allow him to coach there? He needs to get here and recruit

Why would we ever be ok with him delaying doing his LSU job by three weeks?
Posted on 11/30/25 at 10:46 am to timlan2057
Probably because he won't be 100 percent focused on game prep. He'll be working on building his LSU staff, recruiting, working on the logistics of moving.
Look what happened when he was OC at Bama and hired by FAU. Bama ended up losing because his head wasn't completely in the game during prep time.
