Would they get in on Sumrall at the last minute?

Seems like auburn and florida are in deep talks with him.

As of now kiffin isn't coming imo.

That’s the most concerning thing, in all of this. Wait on Kiffin, wait on Kiffin then suddenly make a knee jerk hire. On the other hand, they very well could have a solid plan b. What I’ve learned through all this, is that no one knows anything. It’s been that way for years.

With the extensions that have been signed it’s either Dillingham, Key or someone already on the staff.

I’ve been saying there’s no way we don’t have an alternate ready to go. Sumrall would be the one I’d keep an eye on also. We’ve heard he has been talking direct to Kiffin which is interesting. It could be that if Kiffin leaves OM he goes there. If he stays, he comes to LSU.

I don’t think they have a backup plan which is concerning.

It's a blessing in disguise. Kiffin isn't actually all that great but God forbid we end up with Drink, Sumrall, or Lea. Now all three of those are off the table so if Kiffin stays at OM we will actually be forced to conduct a real search and maybe hire someone with real upside

I think you severely underestimate the dysfunction in LSU’s leadership at the moment. You have a hand-picked political appointee as the President who has only been on the job a few weeks. An interim, not interim, “yes man” as AD. A meddling Governor with his political donor BOS.

Kiffin and Saban were the only “poll tested”, consensus approved targets. Beyond that, there is just total disorganization. If Kiffin isn’t hired, I’d say the backup is Blake Baker

LSU has had a deal in place with Sumrall the last couple of weeks. This board has jumped the shark on the Kiffin stuff.

Based on what though?

If an athletic director doesn’t have a back up plan for the most important position in by far your biggest campus revenue generator then he needs to be canned immediately.

…and the only way to to hire someone with real upside is to conduct a real search - something that it doesn’t seem like we’ve done.

Among the problems with the cherry-pick approach is the candidates who get ignored while we throw ourselves at the creme de la crème or at what’s perceived to be the only one-and-only

Well, that might’ve been our 1A 1 B, but you can’t make someone take a job they don’t want

So all that confidence is just baseless
