Doesn’t fit the narrative. Of course it’s veneer.

I heard that yesterday. I haven't watched Burns for years. I don't like the faux-hokey feel of all his docs.
One of the things Walsh called out was an attempted girlboss thing. Evidently a woman grabbed a gun and did some damage and was injured, so she ended up receiving a military pension. But the doc says "at half of what they guys got, of course". But Walsh researched it and found out she got exactly what all wounded vets got - even though she obviously wasn't even a vet.
The narrative MUST ALWAYS BE ADVANCED.

Ken Burns is a woke pos.
He did the same with his Civil War series. He pounded and over emphasized slavery as being the only cause of that war.

He has said pretty explicitly he is not just America First, but he is America Only.
What else do you need him to do?

Haven't seen Burn's documentary = but I trust him to not 'hide' anything important to the topic.
Does he imply that all American slaves were 'captured' and 'brought' here?
Does he not distinguish between the 'captured slaves' and those 'born into slavery"?? == chattel slavery?
That is the greatest 'sin' of America = chattel slavery.
Slaves who were captured and brought over on slave ships should thank their god to be bought in America - any other destination would have been much much worse for them.
NOT a defense of slavery - but just facts about a past human depravity that had existed for the entire existence of human habitation. And WE were the ones to put an end to it - at substantial cost of human life and treasure.
WE in modern day America have no need to 'apologize' for our past in that regard.
The ones who are CURRENTLY still attacking 'slave owner background' are the ones who are doing the CURRENT 'enslavement' of blacks by demoralizing them, filling them with anger, indoctrinating them into a welfare existence === all for the pleasure of the democrat POLITICIANs who PROFIT off their misery.

I noticed this omission as well. No mention of the fact that Africans sold other Africans to Arabs and Europeans as slaves.
Burns whole discussion about the 13 Colonies being some multicultural enclave was also ridiculous and absurd.

Burns conveniently left out the fact that Africans sold other Africans as slaves and it wasn’t the evil white man.
The part where he exposed what was left out about Phyllis Wheatley was pretty good.
Also, how about those strong women who single-handedly won the revolution?
I’m liking MW more and more.

I believe Sir Winston means that he’s done with Matt until Matt parachutes into Jerusalem and kidnaps, rapes, tortures, and murders a few dozen Jewish women and children.

I watched part of the whole thing yesterday and loved the bit about Ken Burns crediting Native Americans with the colonies organizing together to fight for independence. IE, whites didn't know how to do it until the Indians taught them.
The actual document Burns derived this from was a note written by one of the founders well before a fight with England. The colonies were very independent and had different policies. So, the suggestion that they form a sort of union for trade between themselves and policies dealing with England met with some nay sayers. I think it was Ben Franklin who wrote on the note: 'There are 5 Indian tribes who are illiterate savages but they form deals to get along. I think we can handle it.'

Half truths are more pernicious than lies. Burns is a master at his trade, but he loses Journalistic integrity and respect with his biased, politically correct DEI narrative. A Hack as it were. Good intentions nws.

African tribes raided each other, and took slaves. They sold many, but not all, of these slaves to Europeans and Arabs. This also happened in Asia and central/South America. shite, the British navy was infamous for press ganging, which was barely a hair above slavery, and Americans were subject to it.

Probably also doesn't bother to mention who was doing the actual selling of the slaves or who owned the ships and also financed the operations

One of the factors that drove the slave trade was the very high death rates among indentured servants at the time from yellow fever and related diseases. The rate ranged from 40 to 70% making them a high risk investment. Most died in the first three years. If they made it past that, they were considered "seasoned."
Africans in general had some immunity to the diseases making them a less risky investment.
