Had my knee replacement last week. Honestly it isn’t as bad as I feared.

I had more unbearable post-surgical pain after my two rotator cuff repairs. I suspect it will get worse once they really start trying to make my knee do things it doesn’t want to do.
They had me walking 4 hours after surgery. Nerve block wore off Friday evening and Saturday was a really bad day. They gave me a walker but I have basically been walking around the house without it since Friday. First PT visit was this morning and they put me through the ringer. Those people don’t mess around.
Coach Kiffin, I’ll be ready for spring practice.

Glad you posted, I asked you to let us know how you were doing in the other thread.
Glad to hear it's not as bad as expected. I'm reaching dread mode with mine next week, but I feel good enough that I think it will be okay. I'm doing exercises and sleeping with a triangle shaped pillow to prepare.
How is your sleep? How much icing are you using? Good that PT is pushing you, everything I have read, the first 2-3 weeks will determine your range of motion. Got to fight through it, but do exactly what they say. Good luck. Keep us posted.

The first time I had one for my shoulder surgery I thought that they had amputated my arm. I tried getting out of the bed because (according to the nurse) I was gonna kick my doctors arse for cutting off my arm.
She had to lay on me and get another nurse to help.

You are going to do fine then. My wife had one done a year and a half ago. There isno way she was walking around on it the first day, she was in too much pain for sure.

How so?

I know multiple people who have had one. They all say the most important thing is to work the rehab HARD or you will really pay later.

My mom was in her 70s and had both done. 1st one was like she had stitches. NO pain, very little swelling. Was walking around and cooking day after getting home (she slept there for at least a day because of age)
It was wierd. Had to call doc and ask. He said it happens, bit please get her off the leg as much as you can, lol
2nd one was more traditional pain. Took better part of a week to get going, but she was 2 years older.

My FIL had 2 TKRs, he never went to therapy. He would get on swing and swing for hours getting his knee moving.

My daughter has a doctorate in physical therapy, and years back I had rotator cuff surgery. She could work on me for free, but she directed me to a business where a classmate of hers practiced. The day before my 1st visit she called my daughter and told her to relay a message to me.
