Our 6 year old German Shepherd has been at the vet for a week. They found lung cancer a few days ago. Vet called earlier and said he collapsed when they took him out in the yard and he passed away. This fricking sucks.

RIP Kane
I'm gonna miss my friend

We used to have a black and silver German Shepard named Caine. He was huge and a great security dog in the country where we were living. Went off in the woods and died about 11 years old.

Man, sorry about that.

At least he was at vet and you know he was attended to.

F’’ing sucks, but at least it sounds like the downhill slide was somewhat quick.

I lost my mini goat recently to bloat. That creature was the happiest little thing id ever seen. She would just bounce around happily all day, hopping and spinning and chasing chickens. We tried some medicine and walking her to get it out, finally sat down in the middle of the yard near some foliage. I found her later that night some ways into the chickens pen, must have collapsed. Had the saddest look after she was gone, tore me up. Felt like i failed her. She may have been just a goofy goat but she brought a lot of joy to the yard. Lots of laughter. Its damn hard to lose a pet. Losing a dog at only 6 years isnt fair.

So very sorry. I just lost my cat Chloe a few weeks ago. She was nearly 17 years old and my closest companion.
I am sure your pup will be waiting for you and you will see them again!

“Dogs’ lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you’re going to lose a dog, and there’s going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share her joy or delight in her innocence, because you can’t support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion.
There’s such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware that it comes with an unbearable price.”
– Dean Koontz

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I've been where you are now, and will be there again. It feels like a punch in the gut, and only time makes it any better. I'm sure your dog was lucky to have you in his life.
