If Vanderbilt beats Tennessee who gets knocked out of the playoffs?

cause there is NO WAY you could leave the commodores out. absolutely no way.

Notre Dame
Not with the way they're playing. If they double up Stanford next week to close the season they'll be the hottest team in the country.

Why do we need this thread on 11/22?
It’s totally plausible that Vandy gets left out since they’re currently ranked behind other 2 loss teams
Miami
Utah
Bama
Notre Dame
OU

They still need a lot of help. Unless Miami somehow wins the ACC, they need to get to #10 to make it as an at large. I can see them hopping Utah, but they’ll need BYU to lose once more. That only gets them to 12th. OU winning at Bama really hurt their chances.

It's obvious Vandy would be left out.

Vandy is in
They need too much help. Even if Oregon were to lose next week at Washington, there’s no guarantee that they’d drop below Vandy. It’s possible, they make it, but they need chaos to happen over the next two weeks to have a chance.

if vandy was left out for a Notre Dame it would be one of the biggest frauds in the history of the sport. and conferences would be even less relevant. I dont care how bad you think nd would beat vandy there is zero justification for it......ND SHOULD be penalized for not being in a conference and only be the beneficiary if all the teams have a bunch of losses and they are undefeated or 1 loss...but 2 losses should always be to many for a conference less team

already ranked behind Miami. if OU, Bama, ND, BYU, Utah all win next week they don't have a chance

Yes. Communism! Shame on ND for being independent and thriving on their own brand!

I know this is something people will just eyeroll off, but ND and Vandy have comparable arguments.
Both have losses to top 20/10 teams.
Vandy would have a few "ranked when they played" wins, but none after next weekend (assuming they win vs Tenn)
ND will have a fringe ranked USC, and maybe Pitt if they hold on vs GT.
Really the big difference is the poll inertia. ND stayed top 25 despite being 0-2. Vandy didn't get ranked until week 4.

Analytics are the bigger difference (and what look to be definitely informing the committee). ND is well ahead of Vanderbilt in all the metrics that matter (Sagarin, SP+, FEI, FPI, etc) - ND is 4, 5, or 6 in almost all of them whereas Vandy is sitting between 14 and 18. Also well ahead of all the other two loss teams except Alabama.

They would frick vandy in that scenario

remember when we had a 2 team BCS then 4 team playoff? And we debated who should be in?
now arguing if vandy should be in field of 12
Crazy!
