Wouldn’t surprise me if Kiffin stayed at OM

That statement from Keith Carter is weird. Why put out a statement to say we will make an announcement AFTER the game in a week? Doesn’t make sense for OM or for Kiffin to do that for OM.. UNLESS.. The only motivation is to secure their playoff spot

This is the biggest season in modern history for Ole Miss. LSU is feeding into it by not setting a hard deadline. Until LSU does that it allows Lane to coach because Ole Miss sure isn’t going to run him off for flirting with better jobs.

I was 100% convinced on Kiffin coming to LSU until I saw that statement. I still think he comes to LSU but I would be less surprised NOW if he stayed at OM..

Everyone down voting needs to take a step back and think about the guy we are talking about ha

No team is going to set a hard deadline during the middle of a season when he’s coaching a potential playoff team. That’s just dumb

I was 80% confident he was coming before the statement and I'm 90% confident now. Ole Miss is conceding him, with their 247 writer mentioning the contract is between 14-15 million and that there's a belief he's going to be in Baton Rouge next weekend

LSU letting Kiffin coach that game is a huge mistake. If they think they have him locked up, they do not.

All of this for the glory of some giant troll? Hard to believe. LSU waiting a week really doesnt hurt or help them in anyway.

This is such a stupid take. Nobody is going to ask their future coach to quit on their team during the season. Some of you clearly don’t understand how this stuff works.

Lane is under contract with Ole Miss. LSU doesn’t have anything locked up. Verbal agreements(if they have one) are meaningless. Lane has all the leverage on LSU and Ole Miss

To ease the fan base. If you want to really ease the base you announce the extension. They didn’t do that so you would assume one of three things. He’s leaving for somewhere (doesn’t have to be LSU), OM is trolling the College football landscape with Lane (highly unlikely), or he hasn’t made up his mind (possible but would piss off OM the way this has transpired). He’s gone in my book to some bigger opportunity. Prior coaching searches has me thinking it’s not LSU just out of pessimism and history.

Right, the statement in my mind told me Ole Miss is working on meeting Kiffins demands to restructure his current contract.

Exactly my point. You guys think he’s going to get Ole Miss into the playoffs and just say “Ok guys, my job here is done”?

Again, if LSU thinks they have Lane, they are fools for letting him coach this game. This is just asking to get the rug pulled.

It doesn’t make sense to make that statement IF Kiffin is staying.

I really don’t care if you agree with it. Letting him coach the game is stupid.

If he’s leaving after the egg bowl the playoffs are irrelevant.

Exactly. When did coaches start quitting before the season was over to take their next job?? And because Kiffin didn’t, the sky is falling? Catastrophe Syndrome!!
