Why can't we just let younger people buy in to medicare?

This seems like a super simple solution...no? Allow the people using Obama care the option to buy in to a rebranded version of medicare. Call it Trump care premium or whatever. Would we not be better off than throwing millions/billions of dollars at the current ACA? Everything is already in place. I haven't talked to a single person on medicare that thinks it's a bad program...

No.
Good grief.
Turn the whole Healthcare over to the government. What could go wrong?
Eta. Out of the entire population, young people are last likely to need and use medical insurance. Just a stat.

They gonna pay in like we do/did?

Why can't we have the exact same plan our "government servants" have? Use the pharmaceutical funds used for advertising and political lobbying to supplement the cost.

Because traditional Medicare is less efficient than a private insurer. Less program integrity and utilization management controls that allows for more waste/abuse.

The republicans are supposed to be working on a new health care plan. If we wait a while longer, we will know. In the meantime we can be happy it's coming.

Uhhh…..because Medicare in general pays out WAY MORE than what people paid in.
Letting younger people buy in will simply hasten the insolvency

It’s better to have a regulated private insurance market that caps profits at 1-2% with actuarially and federally certified premiums.

We already do as we already pay taxes.

Medicare-for-all was the Obamacare goal though, and it would complete the incremental socialization of US medicine. So if you are for that, "a rebranded version of medicare" is the tool to do it.

And whose fault is that?
Just like the school loans, the government effectively guaranteeing payment does nothing but drive the costs up.
There is zero incentive for health care companies to ever lower prices.

Would it not be a better idea to encourage them to enroll in health savings accounts? We already let them. We just need to educate them.

I’m not for regulation but the healthcare system needs looked into. Most of it is subsidized through tax payers; education, facilities, research, etc. Costs continue to rise with minimal improvements to care.

Just let them join federal government employees health care

If they are receiving a paycheck, they are. Just can't access it until 65+

"Medicare, if you want it," was a key policy position of Biden's campaign.

isn't that because 80% of the people on Medicare are in their 70s & 80s, if young people are paying in and not using as much as they pay in, it would create a surplus

You beat me to it.
"Nobody thinks Medicare is a bad program." Yeah, they do. The people who need to get paid for the medical services they rendered think it's a bad program.
And again I return to the triangle of price, quality, and availability.
Increasing Medicare might mean improving price and availability, but to the extent that it does that, it also means decreasing quality.
