He was supposed to be an offensive coach, but apart from JD5 making everything work, I didn’t see that.

Defense? No.

Managing the program?
Recruiting?
CEO?

What was the reason we hired him?? I get that he had been successful, but what were we hiring him for that he failed at?

He used to be good at coaching but not so much anymore.

He was supposed to be a Saban, process oriented type, that if paired with elite talent would win at an exceptional level. Too bad he mailed it in about the time he got here.

Brian Kelly was good at rebuilding programs and bringing them to a point they could compete for championships. He did this at 3 separate schools in a row. He did it in 2022 at LSU. So there's no question he knew how to coach at one time.I have no idea what happened after that. It's as if he thought he could just coast to a playoff berth with no work. You would have thought 2022 would have energized him and even 2023 with the Heisman year of JD5 knowing all he needed to do was get the defensive side solidified which he did but then disengaged from the program from what I heard. Never seen anything like it.Ruin your whole legacy because you didn't want to work hard?

Recruiting?

Show me a player he actually hands on recruited/signed at LSU. Denbrock carried him on the offensive side.

this is my take as well. i'll add, and i'm by no means defending him, but it seemed like once he got here he was 1-1.5 years behind the curve.

hired the defensive staff. year 1 house and the D won more games than JD and the O. then the next year the O was insane, and the D was atrocious. he recognized and changed.

came in wanting to build through HS recruiting, which at that moment was fair.....NIL and portal were new. but now that HS kids are demanding the money they want, the portal is the route to an extent. LSU hadn't gotten their NIL game up to speed yet either.

he was constantly putting band aids in one area while another area sprung a leak. when you're paid $10M/year, fix it.......and now we've learned he cared more about golf and strange (who doesn't), so here we are.

i'm not saying remove the O years, because 2019 was one hellluva ride....but i feel like if BK is at LSU during the backend of Mile's tenure, he gets things done.
