I usually get Jacobs out of Laplace. Wondering if there is anything comparable to that in or around Lafayette area?

might be worth the drive to Ville Platte to get some quality meats, boudin, and ponce

Johnson's Boucaniere in Lafayette also has good smoked sausage.

Best overall sausage and andouille. If you like heavily smoked you would go with Rod's in Church Point.

Try to get to Evergreen, La and hit up Swolle’s Sausage. Their sausage & Tasso is delicious…

I used to love LeJeunes in Eunice when I lived down there. That was almost 20 years ago though.

Lejeune's only makes tasso now. And it's very good.

I not an expert by any means, but I think the difference is the type of wood used to smoke the sausage. The Prairie uses mostly pecan and oak. I find the River uses more hickory and mesquite.
They used what was readily available and what others in the area used when early settlers started smoking sausage. But it's an interesting topic of discussion.

That place has really gone downhill the last 15-20 years. Used to be a regular trip for me. I don't even bother now.
