I talked to my UT source about the UT/Sark rumors...

Me: Is this real smoke about UT and Sark parting ways at end of the year?
Him: There is absolutely real smoke. Sark has had several off the field distractions dating back to the spring that have caused him to mismanage the program, especially on the offensive side (eg, insufficient portal moves on offense). President of UT is not happy that Sark gets paid that much money to drop the ball like he has, and he let Sark know that. Sark got offended and immediately put his name in the hat for NFL jobs. Kyle Flood, the offensive line coach (and OC in name only), fearing he may be the scapegoat for the issues on offense, also started putting out feelers for a new job. If Sark loses to A&M, the smoke will just increase.

Him: Matt Campbell would be on the short list. Texas AD Chris Del Conte really likes him.

You hired a career rehab guy what did you expect? Would UT deal with Kiffin's antics? This coaching search is awful if he's the top guy. Just goes to show you how bare the cupboard really is in coaching searches this year.

Matt Campbell at Texas could be a Mack Brown or a Charlie Strong type tenure.

They can short list Matt all they want. Matt is not leaving Iowa State for UT. If Matt told the Lions no (which he did at an $85mm offer) he won’t be going to UT.

Matt Campbell would do well at Texas IMO. So not really a fan of that situation if thats true.

LSU just fired a coach for being checked out. Going after another coach that is checked out would be dumb.
