Why do so many teams want Lane Kiffin as its head coach?

This is not to bash Kiffin, but to gain a better understanding why he's such a hot commodity whenever a major head coaching job becomes available. I understand he's an incredible offensive mind and I think he's a solid head coach, but his record as an SEC head coach isn't that overwhelming.
In seven seasons as an SEC HC, he has yet to win an SEC championship or even play in the SEC championship game. In 14 years as a HC, he has only won 69 percent of his games and he's averaging more than 3 losses (not counting this year) a year during his time at Ole Miss.
I have no problem with LSU hiring him because he's shown he's a solid coach that's familiar with the SEC and knows how to recruit well. My biggest concern is he's never really had a dominant defense and you're not winning any SEC titles or NCs without an incredible defense.

I would hate to be in power at LSU right now. I honestly don’t know who I would hire if I could hand pick. What makes it worse is you can’t frick this up!

Ole Miss is seen as a hard place to win
and he has won a lot of games there.
ole Miss has 6 seasons with 10 or more wins since 1971.
Lane coachesd 4 of them.

Hasn’t he made OM a 10-win program last 3 years
Prior post is what I’m hinting at…

He's at Ole Miss.

"Only"
He inherited a losing Tennessee team, he inherited a USC program under NCAA sanctions, he is the only coach to win anything at FAU, and he is already the second best coach in Ole Miss history after Johnny Vaught.

He's atop the shite heap of available coaches right now and seems to actually enjoy the modern college football environment.

He’s a top tier coach in CFB right now. No one can argue that he isn’t

I mean id be happy to have him but it’s going to take moving heaven and earth to get him (massive raise and coach friendly contract), and I don’t think he’s worth that.

The eye test.
Simple as that. Times are different.
Plus you can say the same about most coaches not names Saban, Meyer, Kirby.
If Kiffin can field a decent defense here he should be in playoffs almost every year.
Vandy and ole Miss have to go back to being the cellar dwellers. And Arkansas needs to stay there. A&M needs to go back to being 8-4.

He’s the only eligible guarantee 10 win guy. Simple fact.

We definitely need a coach and a team that doesn't celebrate 1 point wins over 2-7 Arkansas

Yet another 10 win season for him in the SEC at Ole Miss and you question him.
And yes, I want a coach who I know locks down one side of the ball.

Which makes this a total fallacy because it's not actually that hard to win there anymore
Also look at their list of HCs this century:
Cutcliffe
Orgeron
Nutt
Freeze
Luke
Kiffin
Aside from coach O (

1. It's been hard to win at Ole Miss for 50 years.
2. Between NIL and a 12-team playoff we're in uncharted territory and no one really knows what the hell they're doing or how to build sustained success. He seems as likely to figure it out as anyone.
3. He has a big personality. That means you love him if he's your guy or hate him if he isn't. Like Spurrier.

Alabama, have you heard of them?

Aside from coach O ( ) none of them have won shite anywhere else.
Nutt was a pretty successful coach at arkansas
Freeze won everyone but Auburn
Auburn hired Tuberville from Ole Miss

Totally agree, Kiffin is not worthy of being the highest paid coach in all of college football.

It's pretty simple for me. He's young relatively speaking, an interesting personality, guys want to play for him, and his career trajectory is pointing up. Others in the conversation are not seemingly as dynamic.

Who is your preference? Just curious
