It’s because there are shite loads of kids in public schools that are just being passed through because you essentially can’t fail someone.

Now i get this is a 4.0 student but with technology, student can BS their way through school and put very little effort in

But the pandemic alone doesn't explain the crisis. In May 2020, the UC Board of Regents eliminated SAT and ACT requirements, severing what had been, for all its flaws, a standardized measure of academic preparation
Like LSU. But, but, LSU's incoming freshman class had the highest GPA ever.

Congrats on your admission to UC San Diego, but there is no need to so openly brag.

It shouldn’t be a surprise when people like you and your fellow leftist supported putting student’s identity over merit and claiming that math, GPA, standardized testing, etc are racist

There is a student who finished 1st in her class in Connecticut who couldn’t read or write. She got a full ride to UConn and is stuck in remedial classes. She’s now suing the school board.

Not only is she now having to get an education she should have already earned, she probably took a spot from someone who was actually qualified for a full ride to UConn

It’s a crisis across the board. Our educational system is a joke and the brittle dam holding it up is going to collapse eventually.

You literally can’t fail kids. Teachers at my school cannot give zeroes and must grant retakes. We want to teach “learning and mastering standards.” Kids are too immature for it.

Now the school deserves to be sued but how does someone go through 12 grades and not stop and say “yall haven’t taught me anything”

Universities brought it on themselves when they allowed the SAT and ACT to be "optional" for admission.

She probably thought they had. You don’t know what you don’t know and if she was getting nothing but A’s, she wouldn’t know she was being bullshitted.

Washington U just did a study that showed 80 percent of the grades given in college now are A’s because students are now considered customers.

It's almost like the word "standardized" means something. Go figure.

Correct. It’s a business now. The cream will always rise to the top to run our world, but grades mean nothing nowadays and no one hiring should rely on them.

They hand out PhDs like candy as well.

How very odd to see this OP from someone who supported the policies that led to this.

My son interviews for a residency position at UC San Diego next month. I would be just fine going to visit him in the San Diego area for the next several years.
