Listening to Moscona and he reported that the Kelly team was willing to settle at 43 million. Seems like it would have been smart to just take that and call it a day. This is from his locked on clip today

35 mil with rate of return makes sense to me. 43 is too generous

Hmmmmm

Interesting.

$43 million is a lot.

LSU better have their ducks in a row. Which it seems like they don’t lol but I do think it’s reasonable to fight if they do 30 mill is more than generous

If we have to pay that much without recompense if he coaches elsewhere, we might as well throw all of the dirt out.

The only reason to keep his dirt under wraps is to better his chances of getting hired elsewhere to offset the buyout. If it comes to that, we might as well kiss his arse up and down the media.

Kelly offered a settlement at 43 million

Not shocking

That’s the amount he would have if paid full buyout over 6yrs, taxed and investment earnings during that span.

At this point, pay him over 6yrs and force him to seek other employment as stated in contract.

he wanted basically the PV at a suboptimal rate of return, AND LSU to waive his mitigation clause. What a prick offer that was.

43 mil looks like the present value of 53 mil at a ~4% discount rate. So that is not a deal for LSU as they could just invest the 43 today and cover the payouts themselves. LSU want's a reduced payout.

There it is. He offered PV of the full amount in the contract.

LSU wants to pay less? Why? For what reason should Kelly take less?

Agree, just pay him the monthly check for six years and leave it at that.
You may ot like my next words, but here goes anyway.
Stick with interm coaches for a couple of years to let things square up instead of jumping at the next shiny hook

How many times are you going to get burned?

This is probably closer to a fair present value of the remaining payments on his contract than the $25-$30 million that's been reported. The present value is heavily dependent on the discount rate used. In this case, the risk of the payments is pretty low, so a lower discount rate should be used, raising the present value.

Well geez there is another podcaster/reporter who is saying Kelly didn't counter to LSUs latest offer....so hard figuring out who is the one BSing. But Matt has burned me too many times for me to think he has the inside scoop there. He has shown and stated how he was pro Kelly and did not want him fired.
