Here's what we know...

LSU is a top job in terms of facilities, fan support(*), big booster money, tradition, talent pool.

We won't always have our retarded Governor, he is up for re-election in 24 months. Even if he wins, he will fade to the background because that's basically all he's good for: background noise while we lives our lives.

We will always have the elements that make LSU a great job. Coaches aren't dummies. The good ones see what a vehicle LSU is to their ultimate goal of winning titles.

Verge just has to find the best candidate and refrain from a splash hire for splash's sake. We don't need a huge name to shake off the Governor's idiocy from our image. We just need someone who wins. There are several studs at lesser places who are more than happy to line up for the job.

Stop bugging Saban. Don't take calls from Gruden or Urbs. Give Kiffin a drop dead date, and then execute from a short list of bright, young, hungry candidates.

We riding.

(*) through mid-3rd quarter

If so, why are they trying to get out of the buyout?

This will all blow over, but not until governor waterhead stops talking about it.

Because the attorneys employed by LSU think they have a case that would save them 20 mil.

But will someone leave a good existing job, or forgo other good opportunities, to deal with this mess? Not like this is the only other good job out there.

Every school tries to settle for less than the full buyout. And a lot of times the coach and school work something out. Maybe this is more about, stay with me, BK being a supreme arse. Not saying LSU is handling it right, but I'm not on the inside.

The money is already fronted. Maybe they have real dirt on BK. Why would you not want to protect yourself as a business if he wants to be a greedy arse about it? LSU was offering him 30 million+. They did the same to O and Les who had grounds for being fired on cause but they still paid them. Maybe BK should stop being an a-hole?

LSU didn't fire O and Miles for cause for the same reason they offered BK the same thing -- it makes them look bad. His sorry arse should be fired for cause for how he treated the LSU program with his tenure here.

Allegedly they have the money. If you owed a guy 53 million but had a clause in his contract that he broke wouldn't you try to lower it? Even if you had the 53 million?

Schools everywhere do this, this is nothing new and this specifically doesn't make LSU look bad

Why is this Shitshow for an incoming coach? This is a Kelly issue and the political shite was between an AD who is no longer here. You are severely underestimating the egos involved with top level HC’s that would be up for this job. By top level I mean not just a Kiffin but the crop of really good, young coaches that should be considered. They all believe that “this won’t happen to me because I’m too good”. Let the money guys try to pinch some cash off BK and go get us a good coach who understands the type of opportunity this is.

I'm pretty sure Heupel was hired by his previous boss UCF AD Danny White. He just brought Heupel with him to Tennessee. So, not really an extensive search.

I completely agree with this. The entire college football world knows Kelly is a gigantic piece of shite and the university would never do this to someone they have an ounce of respect for.
