Do you rely on GPS or are you old school, using a road atlas instead?

Hell naw but I member road trips with my family. My old man was meticulous making sure we took the quickest and/or most scenic route.

I keep one in my car for emergency purposes.

I don't use it regularly but I keep one in my truck and with another in my go bag.

Key Maps were essential in Houston.

no, but i should get one for my car

I keep mine in the truck. GPS should only be used as a backup. You cannot depend on it if things go south.

Why would I do that when I can just put an address in my phone and it tells me where to go?

I loved to use those 'state' atlas books, like:
The Roads of Texas
The Roads of Louisiana
The Roads of Arkansas
Still have them, and would use them again if I made a road trip. Allowed me to take all sorts of isolated farm roads and explore around, without getting mired in circles. Before those books, I would sometimes be driving on roads that gradually became unpaved or shell roads, then became dirt roads, and then came to dead-ends.

I haven't seen an Atlas in over 20 years.
I remeber using the street grid to find the street i needed. Man i was glad when mapquest came out. But now i have multiple gps aps on my phone plus gps in my car.

Atlas to start, get the bigger look. Google Maps and that kind of shite is very valuable at seeing how exit/entrance traffic flows, etc.

I drove a truck for years, all over the country. I usually don't need a map for anything, but will use GPS once I get close to find an actual address.

No, but I really like looking at maps.

Not anymore but when I was a kid and we went on long driving vacations I was the atlas jockey. Helped me get really good at geography. Read that fricker cover to cover. Memorized Capitals and largest city in each state.

I took a trip up in North Carolina a couple of weeks ago and I longed for a good road atlas even though we had a Garmin and Waze.
We wanted to see the "big picture" of where we were and was headed. Sometimes Waze would play out for lack of cell coverage and it would argue with the old Garmin.
