Is his refusal to try diff personal at the lb spot agaisnt guys like pavia and reed. Anyone with eyes can see west weeks and keys are slow at lb they are solid stopping downhill run games but do not have the sideline to sideline athleticism to be used as spies agaisnt super mobile qb. You brought in a bunch of super athletic true freshmen lbs including one that runs a 10.3 in Charles Ross. Yes their freshmen maybe they don’t quite have the playbook yet but asking a lb to spy is quite literally the simplest task a LB can have.

He’s continued to die with undisciplined Perkins as a spy when it hasn’t worked all season long outside the Clemson game. Why not blitz Perkins and allow one of the fast freshmen bakers or even a tylen singleton to come in and spy ? It’s very perplexing.

I stopped reading after you said Keys is slow.

Unless you meant he's slow mentally diagnosing plays. That's absolutely true. He looks lost out there half the time.

But he's definitely not slow physically.

On paper, Perk looks like the greatest spy in the sport. But film shows Perk is giving terrible effort and making bad reads.

My biggest annoyance is not forcing guys that likely can't throw the ball well, to throw the ball.

Vandy game should have been 95% man with contain emphasis and a spy on Pavia. Force him to beat Delane, Picket and Woodland with accurate throws.

Instead we have their guy running free into busted zone coverages, over-zealous end rushing and open middle running lanes.

Watch defenses that are successful against running qbs. It’s not because they have great lbs spying. It’s because the d line stays disciplined in their rush and squeeze the qb in the pocket. We either rush our ends too far up field and out of the play or lose contain.

Because you have to do more than just be a spy… if I see Ross in the game, I’m checking to a run right at him. If he only comes in to spy, you can easily scheme around that.

Keys is also not good covering an athletic Tight end. We don’t seem to game plan against what other dreams are trying match up. Meaning we let them create the mismatch and don’t adjust to it.

He’s a very capable LB and thrives against teams with traditional run games. But he’s not a sideline to sideline backer like Whit is and he gets eaten up badly when trying to cover TE’s.

Isn’t zone coverage more of what you want against mobile qb’s so the linebackers and DB’s never have their back to the QB?

I agree that pass rush discipline is of utmost importance against mobile, running qb’s. Limiting running lanes/funneling him to where the spy or MLB is sitting in zone is critical.

It always helps when your Star Captain inside linebacker takes the field with the rest of the team.

Whit needs to figure out how to stay healthy.

Bingo. I think a problem with our defense sometimes is that are so aggressive they play out of control.

Mine is tackling.

It drives me crazy tk watch out dbs bounce off the shoulder passing a ball carrier.

Scheme is one thing, but how they don’t bag on these players in film room for shitty tackling is beyond me.

A middle school offense can scheme around a QB spy. You’re not on to something here

I think another annoyance with me is that he had a full year and an entire offseason to get it figured out, and we're still having this conversation with 80% of the season already over.

They played well on Saturday for sure. Only reason why they were in the game. But A&M and Vanderbilt ran all over us from the get go and I think he also needs to be seriously reevaluated.

Just let him rush. He’s an absolute waste as a spy
