"Casual teams, complacent teams, nonchalant, laid-back teams, distracted teams, complacent teams, they get their f---ing arse beat."

"That's my No. 1 rule when it comes to hiring people: Hire good people. Like, no a-holes allowed," Sumrall said. "So that's how we do it. And then the nonnegotiables: compete, like every freaking day, be high energy and bring it all the time."

Dude is growing on me. Certainly has the energy and hunger. And, probably better resume than O had before he became permanent. Wouldn’t be the worst outcome.

Na, frick all that. Please delete this shite chicken.

As the self appointed leader of the "Anyone but Sumrall" club, it is not only my dooty, but my soul responsibility to lead the charge against his name being connected to LSU.

He'd be a terrible hire here. Let him go to some bum arse school like Auburn so they can continue on their cycle of firing their coach every 2 years.

He took over a team that had a record of 23-5 for the two seasons before him and in a year and a half he has them at 15-7. Not bad, but not worthy of this sort of a jump up.

Any coach who comes in with incentives based contract is good, otherwise, forget it.

I thought it was funny he had this quote as well...
quote:

"The only job offer I've got is to coach at Tulane," Sumrall said. "Why would I worry about any other job? In December, we all look up, players and coaches alike, and wonder, 'What's that look like now?' But if you're a person that's always looking at what's next, you're going to really fall through where you are."

And that's what he did last year at Tulane when they sucked arse once he started getting mentioned for other jobs and it seems like they're going down that same route this year.

I have Tulane season tickets. I think Sumrall is a fine coach, but he is about to be massively overpaid. I hope it isn't by LSU.

He has bad clock management skills. Les Miles level bad.

His teams constantly play down to the competition, but do not rise to meet the challenges of better teams.

Tulane invests enough in its teams that it should be in contention for the AAC title every year and make the at-large spot every once in a while. Sumrall has them on that path. In other words, he is replacement level.

I accept that this is his last year coaching Tulane. I hope he doesn't become LSU's next eight figure coach.

So they’re worse with him as the coach?

I do. In fact it's the main reason Tulane football came back to life. They have benefitted from the portal.

He is pretty good, but not proven enough for LSU.

To be fair, his roster got gutted before he got there and his best player left to go to Duke this year.

Don't want Sumrall at all, Tulane constantly plays down to there competition under him having to pull out a close game to a team they should beat by 2+ touchdowns

I'll be real disappointed then, when someone scoops him up, right outside our back door

Oh well

I have met him several times. He is very sharp.
He may not be my first choice right now but he is way up there. I would be happy with him.
