UNO baseball GM Johnny Giavotella wants fans to like the turd they’re forced to eat

If tweet fails to load, click here. It’s one thing for glorified JUCOs to take on the same colors as the flagship campus in their system like LSUS and LSUA and LSUE… but UNO has a long history at the Division I level and saw success in baseball and basketball back in the day before the state powers that be decided that couldn’t be allowed to continue…
The name change can be begrudgingly accepted, as UNO started out as LSUNO, but literally no UNO fan likes changing their blue and silver to purple and gold…

Are they actually changing the name or just putting UNO under LSU admin system?

UNO has a pretty good baseball progrum actually. For some reason it's always a battle when LSU plays UNO. Nothing but respect for that ball club

I heard Ward Cleaver pronounce it this way the other night, and have since incorporated it into my vernacular.

I kind of wonder if this isn’t being done as the first steps of a slow change to making UNO a 2 year

Was not aware UNO had fans

It's pretty strange. UNO was in the LSU system until 2011 and they were blue and silver. Just move them back and leave the colors the same.

It’s like the state wants to flex their muscles over New Orleans and this is all political

This is all true but at the same time.... who cares, really?

Start with LSUA if they're going to do that.
The state's biggest city should have a public university.

They were one game away from a regional a few years ago

They were one game away last year. Lost in the conference tournament finals.

they were still 12-18 in the Southland Conference. Getting hot in a conference tournament for 3 games doesn't mean they weren't bad last year

UNO was near total closure with no athletics without LSU getting back involved
UNO needs to be thankful they will continue to have an athletic program
