Many reasons. First start with recruiting. He’s getting 15th ranked classes at a program that historically got 25th to 30th ranked classes. With how much speed there is in this state, he’d have an elite offense. Just can’t see him not having success here.
Offer $5 mil more than what a Sumral would get. We just paid $53 mil buyout. That means the delta between Kiffin and Sumrall over 10 TEN YEARS equals what we just paid BK to leave.
In the end that $5 extra mil also prevents another buyout in 4 years when a Sumral type stinks, and there’s another $35 mil buyout. It’s worth it to just pay him $5 mil more financially, and to success of the program (going 10-2 year in and out, CFP versus going 7-5 or 8-4)
Worrying about a mil here or there when 2 bad back to back hires can lead a program down 6-6 for 20 years. See Auburn’s path.
The $5 extra mil is truly priceless. It makes most sense long term financially to avoid further buyouts, in addition to the thing we all care about, which is winning and CFPs.
Saban is one too, but I’m thinking beyond 3-4 years. I won’t complain one bit if we get Saban 3-4 years though.

Landing Sumral would be like being the hot shot billionaire male model that settles on Amy Schumer.
If you can do better, then do better. Don’t settle for lessers.

Nothing will start to be definitive until tomorrow.
That being said, PLEASE not Sumrall.

It's either going to be Kiffin or Saban.

I mean Heupel has accomplished more in less time than Kiffin has. Kiffin’s coached as a head coach for, I believe 12 years and never made a playoff or championship. Heupel has, and has also had top ranked offenses year after year. Lane has won 10+ games 6 out of 12 seasons which is very good. He should make the playoffs this year, and he’s consistently very good. I’m just playing devil’s advocate with Heupel. Kiffin or Heupel would be drastic upgrades from what we’ve had.

He says "only coach" and then proceeds to list 2 coaches.
You can't make this shite up.

What about Damned Landing at Oregon? Wouldn't he be a good hire?

Eeehhhhh. Good thing your justification involves fanciful thinking and someone else's money.

Old news? What are you talking about? He’s the 3rd choice by Vegas and the 1st choice by many, including myself.

Have you not followed the Message Boards all week? Certainly a good hire but would never leave Oregon.
