Yes I think Lane Kiffin is a good coach but can we be intellectually honest? They went all in last year at Ole Miss & paid for a top team & his team managed to lose games it shouldn't have! More than likely will again this year. So why does everyone think Lane is an absolute lock, can't miss coach? I don't get it. He has a habit of losing games he shouldn't & I fear if he is named our next head coach, we end up right back here in 5 or 6 years, paying another buy out!

Because he's elevated Ole Miss above historical success levels

He's 10-10 against the top 25 and 5-7 against the top ten at Ole Miss

It truly is a mystery. We need to be done with the characters and get an actual coach. Kiffin has never won shite. He chokes every time they get close

He's also been known to piss off people like Al Davis to an extent that he was not allowed back on Raiders property again, ever.

Also could piss off one of the genuinely nice guys in football, Pat Hayden wherein, he fired Kiffin on the tarmac and did not allow him to ride back to the facility

Viewing Lane in the context and era of 6 years ago isn’t the correct way to view him as a possible candidate for this job.

The Nick and the Ed infatuation. They've all worked together successfully so they're supposed to walk in on day one with a blueprint for an undefeated, national championship season

He's lightyears ahead of where he was 6 years ago and even better than he was at the beginning of his head coaching career. He's sobered up, matured, and is turning into one hell of a coach. He needs to be in purple and gold on our sideline with an elite DC and LSU would be unstoppable.

I think it's more about having an offensive HC that is also the play caller. When was the last time we had that?

So which do you think he will lose to, South Carolina, The Citadel, Florida, or Mississippi State? He'll need to lose to multiple of those teams in order to not make the playoffs.

His availability is just what sucks. They’re probably gonna be deep into the playoffs, which means well into January.

He’s a very good coach who will reliably have a good offense, has had several good seasons (prob in the middle of his best ever), and is seen as possibly attainable. He will likely only do better with more resources at LSU.

Who else is anything near that?

You’re right plus there’s no Saban, there’s no Meyer, there’s no Harbaugh anymore.

Right but things have changed so much in college football it’s hard to know to what degree Lane is really responsible for this and to what extent Ole Miss is holding him back.
