Easy to see why the guy immediately turned Troy around and had great success at Tulane even after the mass player exodus when Fritz left. They were picked at or near the bottom of the conference and went 9-5. Impressive!

Time is a flat circle.

Everyone said this about Sunbelt billy.

Go after Brent Key. Actual hardass that has a P4 humming and worked under Saban

It's literally Billy all over again man

If Sumrall was at East Carolina or something, half this board would have no clue who he was

I just watched a press conference he did, im old and fat but I would like to play for him.

And no, he really doesn't give off Napier vibes. My youngest was recruited to ULL and went on a visit. Not the same vibe.

If LSU passes, he probably ends up at like an Arkansas or another P4

I don’t think so. He’ll have Tulane at 10-2, in the playoffs, or in the AAC championship game - he will get an upgrade at least

I don’t dislike him but the Greenies won their last two games on fluke plays in the last minute.
At the beginning, Kelly could give off Saban vibes at press conferences.

It's funny when Saban was hired at LSU pretty much no one knew who he was either.

Doesn't mean Sumrall is the next coming, but the fact that many people wouldn't' know who he is has 0 bearing on if he'd be good at the job.

There is no “next Saban”. There’s Nick Saban and then there’s everyone else.

The more I look into Sumrall the more I like.

When Saban was hired he was ascending and not a big time coach. Won a national championship.

When Les was hired he was ascending and not a big time coach. Won a national championship.

Ed was ascending in personality and situation to get hired but he was NOT a big time coach. Won a national championship.

BK was proven big time coach and moved from a big time program to another big time program. Many would consider it a lateral move. Did not win a national championship.

I know Kiffin is the big splash hire but I just don't think he would win a national championship at LSU. I'm concerned his personality would be too much of a distraction.

Jon Sumrall is ascending, young and full of energy. He is going to be a winner no matter where he goes.

Sumrall definitely has some positive things going for him, but that 45-10 L to Ole Miss stands out as a totally non-competitive game. Call it talent or a bad day, but to me it is a red flag. I'm sure he'll be part of the interview process and I'll defer to our search team as he is evaluated against others.

Ole Miss went to Oklahoma and Georgia and dropped 30 plus their a prolific offense. Their offense still rushed for nearly 200 yards against an ole Miss defense that has significantly less talent. We couldn’t even break 100 yards with more talent on the ground vs them.

I watched that entire game. Ole Miss executed very well on third down situations on offense and defense. It wasn't non- competitive, Tulane couldn't throw the ball at all. Tulane was a lot more physical than LSU against Ole Miss. They ran it for around 200 yards.
