LSU's refusal to consider assistant coaches is baffling

Dabo Swinney
Literally some of the best coaches not named Saban in the last 10-20 years, all hired without head coaching experience. Don't know why Glenn Schumann or Will Stein or some other successful and experienced coordinator isn't higher on the list of potentials.

Or G5 coaches. Of the coaches whose teams are currently ranked in the Top 25, only six came directly from another P4 job. The rest were either assistants or G5 head coaches.

Most of your list was promoted from within. We don't have a guy like that ready to take the reins.
And Lanning's biggest win was a conference championship game where his defense was torn to shreds...by a James Franklin offense. I don't think he belongs with the others.

It took Dabo 4 bad seasons before he had a good year. LSU won’t give that much time, especially in NIL era.

Agree with the assistant coaches at major programs, but would think Curley Hallman plays as large a role as any as to why smaller program coaches aren't considered.

The last search was 4 years ago, the coaching landscape has changed a lot since then.
Plus that was mostly Woody, who we don't even know will be involved this time.

Schumann as head coach, let him hire a kick arse OC, bring in Shep as DC(pay him enough and he would come), tyrann as a safeties coach, retain frank, Corey, Williams, and lock down the state!!
Then rely on NIL, and the other guys to take care of the off field, and other stuff..
100+mil dollar coaches with huge buyouts, and zero guarantee they’ll win is stupid in todays landscape of college football!!
