Been thinkign about buying a dash cam. The drivers where I live are nuts. I got passed on a double yellow yesterday by my kid's school.

Do you have one? Recommend one?

I'm starting to think they are necessary. Can they connect into the rear view mirror instead of having wires strung up?

How far under the speed limit were you traveling?

I recently bought one but had not installed it. Next week, I was in a collision...woman on the cell phone overtakes multiple lanes and sideswipes me. We pull over, and she races away while I am on phone with 911. Couldn't get the whole plate and she got away. They will never get her. I have the system up now. Too many shitty people. Very fortunate the damage was just cosmetic. We hit flush - just paint.

Garmin Dash Cam™ X310

Compact, great clarity, supported by a large company --- but pricey.

I had mine installed by Mobile One in Metairie. The ran the wires up the rearview mirror and under the ceiling upholstery (right term), then down the paneling by the door to the circuit breaker box. For the rear one, they did the same.

Only issue I had was the way the ran the rear camera caused some initial issues with my seatbelt getting snagged. Took a little work but eventually worked itself out.

For those of you with an older vehicle that doesn’t have a backup camera, I recommend looking at WolfBox for combo rear view and front view cameras. You replace your existing rear view mirror and mount theirs. The front view camera is integrated into the mirror and you run a cable to the back license plate for the rearview. You can set up the mirror to look front and back simultaneously or either view. In rear view mode, it stays on the whole time and takes some getting us to. It comes with a GPS that tells you direction and speed on the screen as well as local time.

It is set up to record automatically and refresh every several minutes. It also has a crash sensor that will lock in the recording.

The only downside is the rearview gets fuzzy when it’s raining. You can turn it off and use the mirror the old fashioned way if needed.

Been pleased with it so far.

Drivers here in Miami are awful ive been hit 4 times and they are a life saver. All 4 times insurance assigned 100% liability to the driver that hit me

One guy who merged into my lane without looking was adamant it was my fault and had all his Tesla cams but my dash cam won the day

I bought a Nexbase dashcam that will xmit to your cellphone.

Essential when traveling.

Plenty of bottom feeders that will reverse into you to collect.

Just whatching this bastards on youtube is infuriating.

Think the rear facing cam is a necessity? That Garmin mentioned above doesn't come with one.

Last month I bought a ROVE R2-4K for about $70. Everything works well except for WIFI file transfer to the phone app. But if I get into a wreck, WIFI will be my last worry. I can pull the card and put it in my laptop. I uninstalled the phone app.

Yep. Hard wired two different Viofo systems myself into two of our vehicles. My truck has three cameras.

I wanted to post some clips of idiots I've filmed but not sure how to.
