State troopers are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash on the Dallas North Tollway on Tuesday morning.

What we know:
The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the tollway near Spring Creek Parkway.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, investigators believe the driver of an 18-wheeler made an unsafe lane change and struck a Honda Civic.

That caused the Civic to crash into a concrete wall and flip. Two other vehicles then crashed into the Civic.

The driver of the Civic died at the scene. He was identified as 47-year-old Juan Quiroz from Dallas.

The driver of the 18-wheeler kept going and didn’t stop to help.

I drove by this Tuesday. Traffic was blocked for close to 4 hours in the North direction. The backup was epic. Thankfully I was on the frontage road the entire time. They had a white sheet spread out on the road.

I can't imagine that the truck driver will get away long term. There are so many cameras on that road.

Must be an illegal if a truck driver is fleeing the scene. You're not going to get away with something like that

What has happened to truck drivers? When my dad drove, they were the best, most respectful drivers on the road, now they are causing crashes, hanging out in the left hand lane for no reason, and causing all kinds of issue?

Cell phones I guess. People can't put their stupid phone down even when driving.

Just because you are driving a truck doesn’t mean you are a professional

Just because you have a drivers license doesn't mean you can safety drive, it just means you can legally drive. Proof is abundant in these parts.

It is noticeable how shitty 18 wheeler drivers are these days. Don't get me wrong, they've never been excellent rivers, but they at least halfway respected some rules of the road and whatnot. But now they just drive like a-hole, aren't courteous at all, and are very poor drivers overall. Constantly weaving in and out of lanes, always drifting out of their own lanes into other lanes or the shoulder, etc.

I assume cell phones play a part in that. But it just sort of feels like it's younger people who give way less of a frick than the old head drivers used to.

The N/S Tollway has camera's all over it, no way to get off without getting a picture, plus if the truck had toll tag they can trace it down easily.

18 Wheelers shouldn't be allowed on that highway, it's squirrely enough during rush hour.

If they had to shift twin sticks they couldn't have a phone in their hands. This is a good point.
