Has anybody here met Todd Graves? If so, what is he like in person? I think he’s a pretty awesome success story, going from a dream to a 22 billion empire. Also, he worked his butt off to make that dream a reality.
So, anybody got any Graves stories?

He posts here but he asked our groupchat not to ever disclose his username.

I met him a few years ago through a work thing. He was very friendly but very busy, as you’d expect a billionaire to be.

He was my neighbor on State St. by the original location in 96/97. Apartment was a total crap hole. We shared a leaky wall. Rent was $230 a month.
Original Cane would climb the stairs in the back and take craps on the roof.
Todd was always cool. Good guy. Worked hard.
We also used our apartment as a band practice space and he never complained (maybe because his drive thru was open until 3 am).
One day he was washing his car and a family of baby raccoons were laying on the ground enjoying the water spray hitting them. He picked them up and moved them to a spot out in the sticks where they could live the raccoon dream. Thought that was always a nice move.
I ran into him about 10 years later at an opening of a new store and he was just as friendly as he was when he was building the original place.

I’d like him a lot more if he’d pay to get rid of Brian Kelly.

I worked at a store he opened way back around 2007 or 2008. He came to the opening. Not sure if he still does that. Richest person I met at that Cane's was Shaq for a long time. Now, I think it's Todd.

A couple years ago he was in the suite next to us at a baseball game. Passed by him and our eyes locked he shook my hand and asked how I was doing. I didn’t really get into a discussion with him. I tend to not bother ppl like because I know they have ppl approaching them all the time. He seemed like a nice enough guy.

Pretty sure he paid for my drinks one night in Destin. I was at the Baytowne Wharf with some Louisiana people that were acquaintances and we racked up a heck of a tab. We all went to chip in at the end and were told he had paid.
I think that’s all correct, but I was pretty drunk and it was 15 years ago.

My mom worked for him for 8-10 years when their actual ops HQ was in Baton Rouge. She had only good things to say about him even when they moved everyone to Dallas and she elected not to go.
Also said that Cane would walk around the office but they had rules not to feed him because he would become a chonker.

Yes,
Worked at the Cane's off on Congress St in Lafayette in my last two years of high school. Worked at Cane's I during my first year at LSU. Nice guy, told me I should consider going into the management program after leaving college. I quit to take an on campus job so I wouldn't have to work Saturdays. Looking back, that was a mistake. I would at least have my own store or I working in corporate if I took his offer.

Yep, many times... super cool guy, and remembered me by my first name after the first time we met circa 2005
Very generous and always listened attentively to anything I said... can't say enough about the man

Yes. I met him early on the the journey. Just a few stores in, used to play fetch with Cane. I met him through my ex’s cousin who was a very early member of the team and road the Cane train all the way to multi-million status.
He was pretty stressed back then but otherwise cool. I mostly played with the dog while we hung out as a group.

If I knew one day he was going to be worth 22 billion I would have put in an application to work there instead of patronizing the restaurant after drinking all night.
Another note…his original partner also lived in same apartment complex. He wasn’t as nice a guy. Was happy when he moved out. Can see why he didn’t last long and got bought out.

He’s a super nice guy. He comes to the bar that I hang out at every now and then and usually buys a round for everyone.

I had a buddy that ran into him in a bar in BR probably late 90’s. Told him “hey I talked to your dad the other day”. Todd told him “oh that’s good I haven’t talked to him in 20 years”.
BTW, his dad played for Tulane and the Saints.

I took a shot with him at Arties one night during Tarpon Rodeo like 13 years ago. Seemed cool enough.

Saw him at Clemson in the bar that Fred’s was having an exchange with. Very nice.
