With all the speed at WR, why the reluctance to go vertical?

Constant bubble routes or 30 yard passes to the boundary for a 5 yard out route. Rarely a crossing route between the hashes that hits a receiver in his stride (it sure as hell worked to Parker against USCe) and we never throw a bomb.

Is it Nuss’s “injury” at this point, coaches’ lack of confidence in him with turnovers or Sloan’s clueless philosophy?

Vandy did mix it up a lot. You could tell they spent 2 weeks prepping for this game

Because nuss sucked at that before the injury

Because Nuss can’t hit a deep pass. He’s never consistently hit them his time at LSU. Last year was spotty, and this year has been so much worse. If he airs it out 20-25+ yards downfield, I expect a pretty bad miss. Sure injuries to Nuss, but he’s awful when launching a pass downfield.

Sloan doesn't know how to use mismatches. He has a 6'7" TE that he doesn't isolate in the red zone.

Because we have no faith in the O-Line to protect long enough to deliver it.

You mean their coach didn't vacation during the bye week.

this is it. The offensive issues start and end with the offensive line. Nuss is uncomfortable in the pocket and Sloan over complicates things trying to mask the units deficiencies. It’s a recipe for disaster.

there are probably 50 programs ranked ahead of LSU offensively who would trade us their skill group in a heartbeat.

In a nutshell:

The O-Line sucks! They are horrible. And is cause of almost all of the offense's problems.

Nuss is mediocre at best.

I think someome posted that there were only two pass attempts over the middle. If Nuss is the so-called "gunslinger" why only two deep attempts? The lack of a vertical passing game is not going to win you many games. I don't even recall if I saw Hilton on the field yesterday - not that he can catch anyway.

If the coaching staff doesn't have faith in Nuss, then why are they not playing MVB? At least with MVB, you have a QB who can run.

Baffling to say the least.

Part of the problem with the new reality. Even if Sloan and Davis wanted to, they can't develop players. They don't have the time anymore.

There has to be some sort of discipline in terms of the process and developing and retaining players who will fit your scheme.

No time to throw down field because of our horribly coached OL

Because our o line is the worst in the SEC incapable of giving him 3 seconds.

Where do you idiots come from? Nuss had a 37% completion last year on throws over 25 yards.

He's 1/19 this year.

Just because he has a big arm, doesn't mean hes any good at using it. No idea why Chicken allows people to spew nonsense here when we have data to back it up.

How you gonna throw a deep ball with 1 second of protection ?

It’s a reason we throw short quick passes all the time
