Healthcare for illegals: is it legal or illegal?

It’s part of the reason for the shutdown. Republicans claim Democrats want to support illegals with healthcare.
My father-in-law swears up and down that it’s already illegal to give illegals healthcare with the ACA and that it’s a moot point.
I only get my news from the board (mostly) so I don’t really know why the government shutdown has happened other than the democrats want a bunch of stuff the republicans don’t want to give.

It’s already illegal but they are getting it through states Medicaid. It’s all BS. They need the cash to pay the hospitals who are providing more than just ER services to illegals.

Why do illegals have any rights at all?
They aren’t citizens. They don’t deserve free healthcare
Until all Americans have free healthcare first, then sure whatever give illegals free healthcare
But Americans shouldn’t be paying for it to keep it free for illegals

My bride (no pics) is a nurse in management at a local hospital. They had an illegal from Guatemala (bad heavy drunk) and he came to their ER without any coverage of any kind. Diagnosed him with failed kidneys and he had to have dialysis within a couple days or he wasn't going to be around. They explained to him Mexico was his best alternative and while this was going on the front office was applying for Medicaid. He took off south and a couple hours later he was approved by Medicaid. They couldn't get him on the phone so everyone guessed he made it out of the country. This happened in 2022 so it was under the previous administration.

Once they pop out the anchor baby that is a citizen, the parents then qualify for almost everything under the guise of being the guardian of a citizen.
