Have a Ring camera? You're helping expand a dystopian surveillance state.

Amazon’s Ring to partner with Flock, a network of AI cameras used by ICE, feds, and police.
Amazon’s surveillance camera maker Ring announced a partnership on Thursday with Flock, a maker of AI-powered surveillance cameras that share footage with law enforcement.
Now agencies that use Flock can request that Ring doorbell users share footage to help with “evidence collection and investigative work.”

It appears to be default opt-in, and you must take action to opt-out.

I held off years on getting one, based on surveillance state issues.
Then I realized I'm only helping the criminals that would break into my house or steal shite out of my car.
I live in a neighborhood, most neighbors have had them for years- and they've come in handy for them. So I have one too, now.

I do not. I live in New Orleans so there really isn't a point to have them.

I don't have one, do I get to opt out of being surveilled?

I want my street to be a dystopian surveillance state. And I hope everyone out there knows it.

Nope. That's what finally changed my mind on them. Cameras are everywhere- everyone is already being surveilled. Might as well have one on your own property.

I have the Google Nest cameras. They are easily the best.

There are plenty of brands of doorbell cam that aren't Amazon Ring.

You think the government is going to use ring cameras when they have full control over your cell data. Thats dumb.

I literally just ordered two ring doorbells off of amazon, then came to check out the OT and this is the first thread that popped up.
My thoughts on surveillance is, I don't have shite to hide so I'm not worried about it. Also, my phone and watch listens to everything I say and tracks where I am 247 so I really don't know how much more incriminating these camreas would be for me.
For anyone to get off the grid, you would have to ditch any modern vehicle, smart watch, phone, credit cards, and wear facial coverings at all business. Just isn't a reality for me.

Should I get rid of my iPhone too?

I have one. I’m fine with the truth I guess.

Got rid of ours because I am not willing to aid the state in violating the rights of my fellow citizens. The police have unlimited power in this country they do not me to help them in any manner.

In what dystopian world does the government request your permission to view your surveillance footage?
