know your strengths and find the weak spot on D......it's really a simple game

so 3 of you have NEVER broken down film......

This is objectively false but don’t let that stop you

Schemes absolutely work
That's exactly why they are created- to make up for a deficiency at talent at some spot.
Back when everyone ran the I and other 2 back, 1 or 2 TE formation (and set the defense to defend that), teams with more talent won 99% of the time.
Then you see the spread put in place, by lesser teams. And they'd work those defenses over, and force a change in scheme. And then the better teams, having struggled against those schemes, would move to them to gain an advantage against other good teams.
But you have to know the scheme before you run it. LSU can't just come out and run the wishbone one game, or go Power I.

2 weeks ago a scheme literally whooped our defense's arse.

Exactly. Scheme and better coaching led to us losing the Ole Miss game.

my point is......you must have the right people for ANY scheme .....hunting and pecking and ramming a square peg in a round hole don't work

So, in other words find a scheme that works for your personnel?
What a ridiculous premise from the OP
I scheme didn’t work, Troy would NEVER beat an LSU, App State would never beat a Michigan, NIU would NEVER beat ND, Saban’s Bama teams never would have lost a single game.

Funny how the only people who complain about downvotes are the ones with the shittiest takes

Josh Heupel's scheme says hold my beer. He can make really average players thrive in that scheme. They may total garbage and not get developed for the NFL, but his scheme is ahead of most defenses right now.

No shite? you mean if I want to run the spread option, I shouldn't have an offense entirely made of linemen?

I get what you are saying, but they go hand in hand.

I love when slap dicks say this! Most people that “break down film” don’t realize they have no idea what they’re looking at. You sir, are no different

Players play.
Schemes hide deficiencies or emphasize strengths.
Schemes don't work? Ask every team that lost to Navy throughout their cutblock era if schemes work.

Not necessarily. They are also created to take advantage of deficiencies on the other team. And sometimes they are created simply to take advantage of concepts (like the spread) or technicalities in the rules (like the hurry-up) that hadn't been contemplated before. That's why so many schemes appear dominant for a short while, then seem to fade as other minds in the sport adjust to the new concept. Sometimes it reveals a fundamental oversight in conventional wisdom and elements of it remain permanently (some aspects of various iterations of the spread will most likely be with us forever). Other times the scheme as a whole will seem to fade away as teams adjust to neutralize it, only to come back many years later when other trends leave teams vulnerable to it again, usually incorporating some newer concepts to modernize the old scheme (variants of the wishbone/triple option have seen this cycle multiple times).

Yeah, basically, that. And then the cycle starts all over again.
