Renowned scientist Dr. Jane Goodall died on Wednesday, according to the Jane Goodall Institute. She was 91.

Goodall was a U.N. Messenger of Peace and the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute. She was born in 1934 in London, England and was always fascinated with animals, according to her biography.

Goodall was an ethologist and known for her studies of great apes, especially chimpanzees. In 1960, Goodall immersed herself with the chimps’ habitat and saw them as individuals with “personalities, complex minds, emotions and long-term bonds,” according to her biography.

She died of natural causes. I don't think of her as shrill environmentalist (a la crazy greta) but as a quiet scientist whose studies of gorillas and chimps are fascinating. And some of her videos and documentaries are wonderful; her ability to bond with the great apes was wonderful to see. RIP!

Rest in peace. Need more people like her connecting us all to the natural world. 91 years is a good number that I would take if given the option I suppose. What a legacy to leave behind.

Why did I think she had been murdered in the jungle?

It’s kind of unfair that boomers could decide they liked something and get rich off of it

Like if you liked music as a boomer you could make uninspiring dadrock and become the eagles or if you liked monkeys or crocodiles or whatever that just became a job and you’d get rich

Nowadays millenials only have the option of starving or working for some corporation

Because you are thinking of Dian Fossey who studied gorillas.(she was murdered, never solved)

Jane Goodall studied chimps.

Birute Galdikas studied orangutans.

Boomers did not have the option to be "influencers" …that is the current something-for-nothing job. And Only Fans.

While I would probably never agree with many of her views, she made a tremendous impact on the world through her work. Sincere respect for what she meant to conservation and her efforts for primates. A life well lived indeed and a significant loss to conservation with her passing.
RIP Dr. Goodall.

I have a first cousin who’s a pediatrician who is Goodall’s doppelgänger.

This (L) could be my cousin at age 40.

Chimp looking up her shirt…

RIP Goodall.

She was able to keep her faculties to an advanced age and was spared a long decline into mental and physical disability. Most people don't get that. She's to be envied.
